Incredible behind-the-scenes footage of "Free Willy 2". I grew up with the "Free Willy" movies when I was a kid and it's hard to believe that this year, 2015, is the 20th anniversary of "Free Willy 2". I didn't realize the orcas were animatronic until I was older, but when I was little, they looked like the real deal! I've had a passion for orcas since I was little and it feels so long ago since I was only 3 years old in 1995. Thank you for this amazing episode! It gives me amazing respect for the guys for bringing those orcas to life in my imagination! :'-)

This is the true way and believable illusion method to buy the audience, not CGI, 30 years had past, we should be movng in the direction of advance animatronic and robotic for monster movies.

I'm 10 and I know so much about orcas because of the free willy movies! I thank the person who made those 3 movies because those made me fall in love with orcas since I was 4!

So awesome. With CGI you can always tell it's CGI. With Willy, without watching this behind the scene footage, you can never tell whether the whale is real or mechanical. Sad thing is that the production must have cost truckloads, but the film was not a huge success.

It's amazing how comical the JAWS shark would be now, and yet whenever I or anyone else sees it in that movie, it's far from funny, you believe it to this day, just goes to show, that quality of FX don't need to be state of the art, just used well.

When you think of it, it was a happy accident for Steven Spielberg. By not having the shark work, they left it up to the viewers' imagination of what was lurking off the shores of Amity.

I wonder what the wild killer whales that live in Puget Sound thought of these.
