1:34 sonic was originally a rabbit but SEGA decided to turn him into a hedgehog because they wanted a fast paced game where you could kill enemies without stopping. Since hedgehogs have quills they gave him the "spin dash attack" that turns him into a spiky ball that kills enemies without slowing down the gameplay.

I think what I love most about these comics and those who are inspired to do them is that they are more than likely inspired directly by The Source they don't have to come up with their own stuff in the sense that the original is pretty wholesome on its own it's a good kind of thing and I feel that's becoming more and more rare to the point that people have to make those things out of the other things they like but aren't always happy if that makes sense
