i know. most of these are obviously impossible. but the one that looks the least likely is the russian airliner that was run over by a russian bomber and one woman rode a quarter of the plane safely to land. and that one was based on a true story.

You missed the three best cinematic train crashes (clearly because of date of release). #3 The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) - a circus train derails (jaw dropping effects in 1952 - hell, jaw dropping effect in 2024 !!). #2 Silver Streak (1976) - especially relevant to folks who live in Toronto, as the titular train crashes through the atrium of Toronto Union Station (subbing in for both Chicago Union AND New York Grand Central). #1 The Cassandra Crossing (1976) - last of the all-star disaster movies. A Virus breaks out on a train, which is then routed to cross a condemned trellis bridge... Although the model-work dates the sequence, it remains one of the greatest train crashes ever filmed thanks to artful editing...The most recent Mission Impossible movie borrows more than a few tricks from this train crash. It is noteworthy that the above films only used practical effects for the crashes...since CGI was not to be developped for several more decades. It is also significant that they hold up next to the more recent CGI entries presented here. Honourable mention goes to The Bridge over the River Kwai (1957), Super 8 (2011), and the Fugitive (1993).

One thing I know is those subway columns would be splitting and folding the train into shreds before even one could get taken out. No way the structural integrity of the station is lower than a mode of transportation. When the Twin Towers came down, there is a photo of where all the rubble landed, and next to this wall of debris of two 1000 foot tall steel skyscrapers are support columns in the subway station, standing strong.

Some morals: 1) Even if a train does e. g. 40 km/h before the impact, it immediately does about 200 km/h after the first impact and further on. 2) Nothing; NOTHING, NO fucking THING can decrease the impulse of any train. No other vehicle, no constructions, no trees, no terrain, not even the Earth. Not even under the surface. 3) What goes wrong SPARKLES and blinks. UNDERSTOOD?! 4) Upon impact (= during a n minutes of a series of impacts) the chassis is NOT deformed. It casts SPARKLES, but is not deformed for sure. 5) Passengers ARE able to hold on handrails during the course of events. ALWAYS. In any position. The protagonist is even able to act consciously and systematically. 6) No matter of the impact, auxiliary circuits DO certainly work. Etc. 7) Train movies SUCK.
