I wondered how long you could maintain 3 different channels with one requiring 3 different pieces a week. I only subscribed to Geek.com to follow Bob’s reviews, but you know what the news updates are still decent here. Ah well, so long Bob. See you On your own channel and Escapist. Don’t burn any bridges here in case Escapist starts overdosing on it’s red pills again and you want a place to fall back to.

I would be impressed if somehow Alex Macris and his ilk got reinvolved with Escapist. The corpse of Defy Media is going to be tied up in lawsuits for a good long time, and Alex is busy spewing out pseudo-libertarian militaristic fantasy modules for various pen-and-paper games (think if David Drake wrote 5e modules, or if Vox Day toned back the ethno- in his fascism and wrote 5e modules) for a super niche audience. Russ Pitts is definitely not letting that page go reactionary. :)

@@v-rex6262 The former head of Escapist was a hard-right conservative (which on it's own is whatever, have your own politics), but thing is he wanted the content creators to do things like put down "The Libs" and praise military shooters regardless of quality cause second amendment, and push the whole "Gamer-Gate" feminism is the enemy thing and, well A LOT of creators on Escapist weren't having none of that, it is part of what lost them Jim Sterling, what lost them Lisa Foiles, what lost them Wisecrack, what lost the Critical Miss and most certainly what lost them Moviebob (Yahtzee is if not Liberal is atleast very anti-Conservative, but you don't kill the goose that lays the golden-egg). With all the content creators gone Escapist was reduced to Zero Punctuation videos and pod-cast about the feminist menace every week, it was really killing the variety the site once offered. I was cautioning Moviebob to leave on good terms with Geek.com, so if a similar boss with an agenda decides to make enemies of their creators over pushing said agenda, Moviebob will have an alternate place he might be able to work at. Moviebob is a pretty an unapologetic liberal (which again is fine as long as it does not affect policy and just opinion) so if someone else pops in looking to "screw them nos goods SJWs" or whatever, Bob is going to be one of the first targets.

Weird that "Shadow" so strongly echos Akira Kurosawa's KAGEMUSHA which translates into: Shadow Warrior? And also involves a duplicate taking the place of the ruler.

I watch several movies a year in theaters and many more at home. I do look up movie reviews by moviebob because they are always spoiler free, intelligent, educational, and pretty entertaining. But they are getting harder and harder to find ..... his reviews. When you search for moviebob reviews you will not find Avengers End Game, luckily finding this review has me very interested in Shadow, thank you. Please Please make moviebob reviews, easier to find.

I saw Shadow at PIFF, and enjoyed it. It was followed by One Cut of the Dead, which is my new favorite movie, so it did pale a bit in comparison, and the ending wasn't the most satisfying, but the journey is intriguing and at times fun, and the whole movie is absolutely worth it for the gonzo set pieces when the movie finally cuts loose. ... Saw this last week. Only thing I liked about it is the cinematography. The story (or rather the screenwriting?) fell flat. Nothing really epic about it. Not as good as House of Flying Daggers. Both have impressive visuals but that's just about it. I wouldn't even compare Shadow with (or dare I say mention it in the same breath as) Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

The Shadow? The Shadow?! The Shadow! Also, I miss times when Zhang Yimou was making good fucking movies, instead of indulging himself, his wuxia fetish (because it is a fetish) and his pocket due to absurd alimony he has to pay thanks to how taxes are accounted for in China. But I guess nothing good can last forever. In retrospect, Hero was a mistake, despite being a fantastic movie. Just because it opened the can of worms that spilled all over Zhang's career.
