What so many people get confused about, "old time hockey" - when Newman's character says they're going to go out and play "old time hockey," he means clean hockey - none of the goonery. He wanted to play the final game clean without all the violence that the Chiefs had become infamous for. So, "old time hockey" isn't the Hansons busting heads - it's the exact opposite.

sejdaren Ilmarinen are you saying Swede players have never dived? Give me a break, there's multiple dives that happen per game but no one notices. Canada was missing their #1 goalies and maybe had one player present at the worlds who would make their olympic team, maybe. You had: your #1 goalie, #1 center, #2 defensemen along with many other players that can easily make your olympic team: Nylander, Landeskog, Rask, Soderberg, Lindholm, OEL. You should not be complaining about a dive when you had way better players present on your team.

what difference in humor between the 1970s and today.

Humor today is lame. It's just about relationship bullshit coz everyone gets offended by everything.

Best fricking hockey movie ever. Goon is good but the Hanson Brothers take it to another level. "Putting on the foil coach!" F-ing awesome!!!

I was at a Juvenile league (late teens) road in Ontario game with a bunch of guys I knew. Took the bus with them. It was just like this. The referees called the game in the 2nd period.

Haha, the actual pro players of the movie. I'm sure they scared the crap out of the actors when they were skating down on them. It just goes to show how much better even middling professional athletes are than normal people. Look at how much faster they can skate than everybody else on the ice in this scene.

The Hanson brothers were the only pros and from what I read they had a great time in their roles to point of getting a little carried away which truly scared the crap out of everyone else who skated for the other team and

Bruce Boudreau is one of the players in the movie, but I've never been able to spot him. There's a picture of Pat Quinn as an Atlanta Flame in the GM's office about 2/3 of the way through.
