@@TheBurnonme though I had deep reservations about this remade version. I must say after seeing it I was glad to see the many references they made to the original. Wasn't expecting that. I'm also glad it kept that original statement of Priest's character wanting to get out of the game. But as far as this film being on an Oscar level - uh uh hell no. It was a good film but not that great for an Oscar's attention. Even though Denzel Washington's performance in "Training Day" was good I was upset they gave Denzel an Oscar for that particular role considering all the other roles he ever play and the academy only seemed to notice him playing a bad guy rogue cop selling drugs. Yeah Denzel is a hell of an actor but giving him an Oscar in my opinion was like a slap in his face. I still think he should've gotten an Oscar for his role in "Malcolm X"
