The character Standish, who carries a match stick in his teeth for much of the movie, was originally animated with a small cigar instead. During production it was decided the cigar was a poor choice, so the match was substituted, requiring some modification to existing animation.

This movie Free Birds is honestly underrated. It's actually one of the only Thanksgiving related movies ever made, and I definitely enjoy watching it every year around Thanksgiving, which is less than two months away from now. My favorite character from Free Birds is Jake who goes back in time to the first Thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu with Reggie.🦃🍁🍗

when Reggie and Jake went back in time to get turkey off the menu and stop Thanksgiving this is not quite what they expected at first when Jake and Reggie tried to hide behind a tree they almost were shot by Myles Standish and his hunting dogs but before Myles Standish could kill Reggie and turn him into Thanksgiving dinner but Jake and Reggie were saved by a flock of turkeys this is when Reggie meets Jenny and Jake meets Jenny's brother Ranger
