Because as intellectual property, the owners own rights to the royalties. After 98 years in the U.S., the intellectual property goes into the public domain. THEN it becomes free. Of course, now its easy to pirate anything online.

That one as I recall involved kids fooling around driving on the wrong side of the road ( Route 6 ) which must be a long road in the SK Universe--it runs from Veazie to Cleaves Mills, and also is in Chamberlain where Carrie White used to live.

I have adored this movie since it was first released. I think it is,Walken's finest acting. Btw, the US 40 sign is completely inappropriate. In the novel, King had Johnny's home town as ffg fictitious Castle Rock, Maine. And most of the filming took place on the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls,area. US 40 is an E-W highway that bisects the United States.
