CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The shark smashes into the control room and eats one of the technicians while Mike (Dennis Quaid) and Kay (Bess Armstrong) try to swim away.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After a young great white shark finds its way into a sea-themed park managed by Calvin Bouchard (Louis Gossett Jr.), workers try to capture it. But the facility's attempt to keep the shark in captivity has dire consequences: A much larger mother shark appears in search of its offspring. Among those who must battle the angry aquatic killing machine are marine biologist Kathryn Morgan (Bess Armstrong), her co-worker Mike Brody (Dennis Quaid) and a pair of friendly dolphins.

And it just kinda hits the glass with its nose (Which shark noses are pretty soft and due to this sharks speed he would’ve just face planted) and then hovers there.

@@PancakebatterLuigi I think based on their slow motion reaction it was supposed to mean that shark was moving actually fast but they made it in a "scary slow motion intention" but it looked ridiculous instead.

Dennis Quaid hates this movie (probably wishes he could wipe it off his CV). He has said he was wasted on cocaine during the making of "Jaws 3". I believe him. I bet he wasn't the only one using illegal substances on the film set.

It did explode but the sum of the velocities of its parts definitely added to zero, minus the deceleration of the shark's guts as it came into the frame of the camera for some reason.

It makes even less sense looking at the budgets Jaws was only on a 7 million dollar budget, however Jaws 2 and 3-D were both on about $20 million a piece, and Jaws the Revenge was on a $23 million budget

I love this scene. After they rescued all those park goers from the underwater maze. I imagine the shark comes slowly to them all vengeful. I can imagine him thinking as it is slowly swimming towards the glass. "YOU TOOK AWAY MY VICTORY!!!"

After exhaling, residual oxygen remains in the lungs. It's the body's way of ensuring a reserve supply of air. Makes this scene all the more disgusting because it would take a ton of force to crush the ribcage and lungs abruptly enough to force that residual air out through the esophagus. Haunting scene.

Oh boy... I remember seeing this scene on TV at a VERY young age, and about a week later going with my parents to a restaurant, and staring at a pair of shark jaws that were hanging on a wall, deeply disturbed. As silly as it may look today, this scene made a strong impressión for my younger self.

The best part is how they cut between Calvin saving her, and the shark grabbing the nephew and eating him, to really emphasize how awful it is. What makes it worse is how the nephew isn't even in frame for any of the shots leading up to this, so it always confused the hell out of me when I was younger.

In many ways, Deep Blue Sea pays an homage to Jaws. In fact, all the sharks in that movie die the same way as the ones from the Jaws movies. For example, the first shark dies by explosion (first Jaws), the 2nd shark dies from electrocution (2nd Jaws), and the 3rd shark dies from explosive (Jaws 3)

This was released in 3-D; to watch it in 2-D requires removing a lot of the animations, which is why this looks so terrible. Oh it still sucks, but it was much more epic for its time.

Your half right. The black lines surrounding the shark are a result of an old method that involved compositing an object behind a blue projection screen and inserting a background image later in post. From what I’ve read the filmmakers had the option removed the black lines from optical effects using a chemical film process however the executives favored for them to stay as they felt it made image look 3D. Of course this was a dumb decision because it made the effects look awful.

I liked it. It wasn't a cinematic masterpiece by any means, but I found it engaging and enjoyable for a creature feature. I liked the look of the shark in this one, too, and its massive size, especially when we see the camera inside its mouth as it was eating FitzRoyce. What did you like about it?
