Big film buff in America here, just saw this movie recently for the first time cause I'm a Daniel Day-Lewis fan, was excellent. It's been interesting to also learn more about the country of Ireland and their history from this, and recent ones like Belfast, Banshees of Inisherin, and The Quiet Girl.

People talk about how Wilson was so brave to stand up to the US in refusing to send troops to Vietnam. What they forget to mention is that the UK was dealing with their own Vietnam right on the border, and the IRA was ever bit as tenacious as the Viet Cong.

One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. It's amazing how through popular culture some terrorist organizations (which IRA undoubtedly was) are romanticized while other similar terrorist groups are vilified to the point of being equated with pure evil. It's not what you do or think or say - it's HOW you present it to the public. Always was, always will be
@Aegis--- Жыл бұрын
in this situation, not exactly, the ira during the war of independence didnt act on terror and only targeted british officials, the IRA splinter groups during the troubles used terror and attacked innocents. Here in ireland, its more or less unianimous that the splinter groups of the IRA are terrorists, even if we agree with the message of a united ireland
