I love how that decision was essentially solely based on Bandera’s role as Zorro. A lot of people don’t know this, but the fairytale of Puss in boots, it actually Italian, but they change his nationality to being Spanish, which of you asked me is better. It’s kinda like how Chris Farley originally voice Shrek with a typical white guy accent, but then Mike Myers came along, And added an accent, which gave Shrek a better feel. Fairytales take place in Europe (for the most part), and Myers said, that the Scottish accent gave the character a feel that makes the film FEEL that it takes place in Europe. Fun fact: even though Puss in boots, isn’t Italian in the film series, Antonio Banderas, still voices the Italian dub as well.
