Dan Blocker played Borneo, one of the “kangaroo court”, wearing the hat. According to IMDb this show was his third acting role (on television ?) A couple of years before Bonanza where he was Hoss Cartwright.

O. Henry wrote a collection of stories called "The Gentle Grafter". In my opinion the best of his output. A series of stories with a coupleof characters who engage in a number of small time cons. Its insight into human nature is brilliant. Should be required reading.
