I lived in Strawberry Mansion. I was born 1957 and as I grew up you didn't have to go nowhere because all the stores were in walking distance. Strawberry Mansion was a beautiful neighborhood. I really miss those great days. Park movie 31st and Diamond st.

Strawberry Mansion was the terminus of several trolley lines, they were the 3,7,8,33,39 54, and the Fairmount Park trolley. The last one converted to bus was the 54 in 1964. Smith’s playground was a wonderful part of my childhood. One has to remember Robin Hood Dell I saw Louis Armstrong there in 1970 I was 11 years old that summer. I say thanks for the memories.

Excellent interview and reminiscence, I think it is very important to capture the memories for future generations to appreciate what life was like even when the culture wasn't your own.

West Philly here. Our part of town had a huge Jewish community from the 1890s right up to the 1950s. Then the area changed and Shuls became African-American churches. Now in the 21st Century the area is changing once again and young Jewish families are moving back ... we have a shul, Kol Tzedek, on Baltimore Ave.

What about Ridge Avenue be included from the intersection of York ST/33rd St to Lehigh Ave...where else could one possibly place Ridge Ave ? Common sense not entire common? Wikipedia needs updating as well as google maps!
