I'm watching The Green Mile for the first time ever!
I can't wait to experience this iconic film for the first time! The Green Mile is such a beloved film by so many people and I can't wait to for you all to watch along with me
Paul, the head guard of a prison, meets an inmate, John, an African American who is accused of murdering two girls. His life changes drastically when he discovers that John has a special gift.
Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) walked the mile with a variety of cons. He had never encountered someone like John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a massive black man convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. Coffey had the size and strength to kill anyone, but not the demeanor. Beyond his simple, naive nature and a deathly fear of the dark, Coffey seemed to possess a prodigious, supernatural gift. Paul began to question whether Coffey was truly guilty of murdering the two girls.

@@MovieJoob Unfortunately we still punish people after their time is done. Now, I am all for keeping tabs on people who have trouble understanding boundaries and the meaning of "no". By all means, keep tabs on them and keep them in a register. But every other former criminal should be given a clean slate, in every sense of the word. No record to inform employers about, no judgment from the society around you, and most importantly, no alienation because of former actions. That is the number 1 factor that drives people to commit new crimes. Returning to their old network where they are accepted. Edit: almost forgot, love the reaction, keep them coming. "Gran Torino" Is a really great movie I think you would enjoy :)

Well done for making it through this one. A great reaction to a wonderful movie. Very hard to watch in places with Del's execution being one of the most brutal scenes and seems to go on for ever . There are many Stephen King books adapted for film. Some of the kesser known are "Dead Zone," "Thinner," "Needful Things," " Salem's Lot," (two versions are available), "Pet Sematary," "Storm of the Century," "Carrie," and more. I read "The Green Mile" before it became a film. You should consider reading it if you have the time. The book goes into detail about the backstory of death row prisoners, Arlen Bitterbuck and Eduard Delacroix. The scene where Del is about to walk the green mile, he tells the guards that he wish he had met them at an earlier time in his life. He seemed to believe his future would have been different because the guards showed respect and compassion. He believed he would have been a better person.

One of my favorite lines is when Brutal says to Percy about Bitterbuck "He's paid what he owed. He's square with the house again. So you keep your goddamned hands off him!" Regardless of one's beliefs about the death penalty, once someone has paid the ultimate penalty, they've paid what they owed, at least in this life. And the next life is between them and God.

He did a really beautiful, I think True story movie, about a pilot crashing in northern Canada or Alaskan wilderness, and was saved and helped by a native Inuit young girl. I won't ruin the end of it for u! The old trustee in this is Harry Dean Stanton! He's been in every movie made since the silent era!😁. Dillinger, Red Dawn, Godfather 2,this, and many others!

John Coffey's initials are "JC" Jesus Christ. The parallels or similarities of the two are close. They both performed miracles, people witnessed those miracles and everyone wanted him to be put to death. 1:40 - Girl, I hate to say this.... but each decade since the 1950s has been defined by what was on television. In the 50s, it was the "White nuclear family with precocious children, a single family home in the suburbs with a white picket fence." shows. The 60s saw the rise of the Hippy movement and colour TV shows, but it was the "sitcom" that dominated the later part of the decade. The 70s was the "Disco" era filled with Variety shows. The 80s brought Cable TV into homes, and more diversely cast sitcoms came around. The 90s..... Oh. My. God. It was dominated by "Trash TV", with tons of shows just like Springer (look up Morton Downey Jr. if you want to see who originated that whole thing). It became popular to watch "regular people" self destruct in front of a live studio audience. It was like a car accident, you WANT to look away, but you just can't seem to.

Hoping you go far. Good luck with your channel moving forward. Big shoutout from this old, longhaired, country boy in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. U.S.A. Bless you and yours. See you on the next. Much peace and lots of love, darling. Take it easy. Go with God. Later.

12:52 About the protagonist not seeing a doctor. This movie is set a few years before approval and industrialization of antibiotics. And he has an infection, probably not the first one in his life. He knows he'll have to wait his own body fight the infection off.

Perhaps an odd request, but you should react to Prince of Egypt, if you haven't already seen it. Animated 90's movie about the Exodus story, but told in a way that is accessible to all walks of life. Excellent score (Hans Zimmer) and catchy musical numbers (Through Heaven's Eyes a personal favorite). Not to mention captivating voice acting.

I'm watching the intro and thinking: "By Jove! You're not ready for this... Have you got 3000 tissues ready? You'll be bawling and sobbing most of the time... Is aspirin at hand? You'll be fighting for your breath so hard you may get a heart attack, headache and chest pain are guaranteed... Ok, let's go. I'll be there, crying with you."

As an old lonely Gramps myself, watching you suffer during the horrific execution scene touched me. Such a tough thing to watch especially for a young, sensitive person. You can have a huge virtual hug and a big old shoulder any time. How lovely you are! Like a grand daughter and you must be protected at all costs.

1. YOU WILL CRY 2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie". 3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. 4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row. 5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (MCD)😇 and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭 6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part. 7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene. 8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill. 9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy.👌EVERYONE hates him. 10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge. 11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography to make John taller. 12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off. 13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for. 14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced. the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT) 15. 4 words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!

The "rehearsal" inmate is Toot. He is a trustee inmate but not on death row. Trustees receive special privileges at the prison. There was no effective treatment for UTI. Penicillin was not available for use until after WWII.

In the book, Del's crime is having committed a rape/murder, he set a fire to destroy the evidence and it spread, killing 4 adults and 2 kids. Arlen ("Chief") killed someone in a bar fight.

Haha after I saw you cry your way through much of Forrest Gump, I thought of this movie and how there was no way you’d be able to get through it. But you held it together pretty well, actually! I think you might be ready for “My Girl.”
