**SPOILERS for people who haven't read His Dark Materials** Movie concept: Imagine the stomach pain was due to "quantum fixing" where living things from a different universe can't remain outside of their own for too long. The "code" they're made up of is just so slightly different and the matter around them rejects their presence. Kinda like how Lyra and Will had to go back to their own world's in His Dark Materials. It could also be a way to explain why tiny details being different drove Josh crazy even though we remember things differently from even a few years ago and just dismiss it as bad recall. His body was telling him it didn't want to be in that alternate universe.

In the context of the film, the guy who stole the idea pitched it to the boss first and already had a massive head start. So basically the boss told Noel and Devin you have to "finish the app in a week" or lose it to the other team who are basically almost done. because "finishing the app in a week" is impossible, with the use of the portal, they did 4 weeks of work on the app in like 4hrs time. Since the artifact exists in every timeline, and even if you destroy it, people from other timelines can still come to you, it'll eventually lead to an all-out multiversal war where all timelines try to preemptively wage war on other timelines to preserve their world, and eventually, only one timeline ruthless and powerful enough to have already captured enough resources/technological advancements from all other defeated timelines emerges as the victor. Having conquered and destroyed every single artifact in other defeated timeline, humanity of this one victorious timeline will emerge as all-powerful, highly-advanced multiversal empire, where no one can come to their world, but they can still travel to all other defeated timelines. Honestly, getting an idea from famous people from alternate universes isn't really a bad thing to do. The biggest problem with stealing ideas in our world is that the person who originally came up with it would not have the recognition they deserve, and someone else will. But if you become successful in your own universe, without impacting someone else's in their universe, then no one really loses out here. There's only wins. You're gaining, without anyone really being at any kind of a loss. So the moral issues don't apply here, since the immorality originally stems from the fact that someone else is suffering from your success/decision.

Years later the series starts... eventually having people from that world coming here to take over as their dopplegangers, or to replace us using kits that turn them into us by transforming their DNA to ours.
