There are two main problems with this movie (yes I've seen it). The size of the ship vs the size of the Sun, it would be like dropping a small pebble in the middle of the ocean thinking it will create a tsunami, and nuclear fission cannot cause nuclear fusion.
@severinschneider86972 жыл бұрын
Especially if the „death“ of the sun means that it loses fuel to burn… There is definitely enough heat but at one point all the atoms are too heavy and not Hydrogen anymore so fusion doesn‘t work as efficiently anymore…

@@severinschneider8697The Sun will get a second life after running out of hydrogen when it shrinks and the pressure and heat can start nuclear fusion of helium but will swell to a Red Giant. Like so many sci-fi films we have astronauts who wouldn't have passed psych screening, and who jeopardise their mission (in this case to save the entirety of mankind), justified by weak reasoning. A visually stunning film though, with a great soundtrack.
@obsidianfrost95142 жыл бұрын
The isolation of space as with the sea is enough to run tensions high also the concept of time seemed to be different hence the earth room. So those factors alone makes it in some sense believable
@breakfreak31812 жыл бұрын
@@obsidianfrost9514 Possibly, but astronauts are taken from the best of the best, hence the term 'the right stuff'. For a mission of this magnitude they would have picked the best from the *entire* world. Considering they were literally on a mission to save the world the crew would've had no permission from mission control to deviate from their mission plan, and in reality, as highly trained professionals, would never have chosen to do so themselves, especially after a first failed mission. It'd be great to see a sci-fi film where, scientists, astronauts and special forces weren't depicted as stupid beyond belief and emotionally challenged! Bad situations can involve competent people through no fault of their own to give a reason for a high tension sci-fi plot. It happens in real life ! (e.g. Apollo 13!)

Pretty neat. I feel like the most unlikely event in the movie was the fact that they only had a single garden, with all the plants within a path of fire propagation and seemingly zero systems to suppress fire. Part of the safety review process for payloads for the ISS is to evaluate flammability, ignition sources and fire propagation pathways. Having a bunch of flammable organic material out in the open with no fire countermeasures is pretty absurd even for the ISS, let alone a mission upon which the fate of humanity depends.

Pinbacker is NOT REAL! He is the insane part of Capa's personality, thats why you never see him un-blurred. Capa can't handle being responsible for all the personell deaths. When Maze confronts him at Trey's Suicide, he snaps and gives birth to Pinbacker. Remember, he just saw Pinbacker's ramblings on the Icarus 1. Take the scenes on the bomb. Pinbacker appears out of nowhere in this huge hall very well lit. He fights, lifts Capa up one-handed with super human strength (he is malnourished burned skeleton) - its Capa fighting his inner Insanity. Pinbacker isn't killed, yet he lets Capa proceed arming the bomb. Boyle wanted a movie discussing mental health in space travel and under extreme responsibility. Turning that into a slasher makes no sense. He kept in line and fooled everyone.

I don't know what was funnier about this video. The fact that the writers of the film thought you could get lost on your way to the sun or that they thought a bomb with an effective mass the size of Manhattan could EFFECT the sun. Do they have ANY gddmned idea how big the sun is? Its like blowing up a single cell in a human body.
@1wasinAlpha2 жыл бұрын
everything in our solar system and alpha centaury(closest star to earth) solar system combined won't really do anything to the sun. our sun is just too big
@grantpflum68442 жыл бұрын
@@1wasinAlpha Exactly!!! Hell just the size of the sun compared to the ship in the movie was a joke. As close as they were supposed to be to it there is NO way they should have been able to see the curve of the sun. Its just too huge. And lets not get started on debating how the ship survived being THAT close to the sun and withstanding its gravity. Even if it had gone cold, a ridicules notion if you have ANY idea how stellar fusion works, it wouldn't have changed it's mass.

@Pratyussh Kumaarr sci-fi stands for science fiction… if it’s not based on science, it should be called fantasy movie not sci-fi
@grantpflum68442 жыл бұрын
@Pratyussh Kumaarr True enough, but there should be enough science in your science fiction story to at least get the premise of the ground. Otherwise you should bill it as a fantasy or space opera like Star Wars. It would be like going to watch a fantasy movie like the lord of the rings just to have the end credits reveal that you were watching some wannabe director review his own footage and pitching it to a studio. Not only does it kinda ruin the story, the whole premise is stupid.

It's HILARIOUS how people believe that if you were to go out into space without a space suit that you'd instantly freeze. There's no air in space, therefore, you cannot feel what the temperature is. Your body would eventually freeze, but very slowly as your body naturally loses heat.
@1wasinAlpha2 жыл бұрын
it's partially true... you know how butane gas can start to get cold when you use it? It's loosing heat because it was pressurized, when pressure goes down, so does the temperature. So, in space there is no pressure, and human body is full of pressure, because without it we'd be crushed under the pressure of the atmosphere. So, when we're released into a vacuum of space, the pressure inside our body bloats up and liquid starts to vaporize into the vacuum of space since there is no pressure to keep it in liquid form, and that's how you start to freeze from the surface, but like you said it's not instant, but also it's not that long like you described
@Ymsil_2 жыл бұрын
Also since they are heading to the sun they would probably still get it’s heat it’s probably still hot even if it’s dying
@danieldevito63802 жыл бұрын
@@1wasinAlpha Nothing is space, not even liquid, freezes instantly. Without an atmosphere, there's nothing to transfer the coldness of space into your body. Also, the loss of pressure has absolutely nothing to do with your body cooling in space. The natural emission of body heat is the ONLY way your body cools in space. Therefore, it would take at least 24 hours for you to freeze in space. Unless you were in direct sunlight, then you would burn to a crisp.
