Soodhu Kavvum has to be one of the best non-star tamil film ever made. It also had huge impact on the industry that how can a short film director from naalaya iyakunar make a movie about kidnapping with the sense of humor. It's still dream for many other upcoming young director to give debut film llike Soodhu Kavvum. And have to mention the dark humors in that movie is top notch till date💯

Which best non-star film changed the Tamil film industry and why? Undoubtedly PARUTHIVEERAN Paruthiveeran paved the way for rural mainstream cinema with a hard hitting climax. I wish I had a time machine to see how the people reacted to the climax when the first show of the movie was screened.

I am going to go with Mynaa. While breaking the star system, it reflects not only on the actors but other categories as well such as direction (Prabhu Soloman), Cinematography (Sukumar) and even music (D Imman; probably his biggest break). The movie sets you in a mood, the travels throughout the movie. Such an impactful film with such an after taste. The song still lingers in my ears as I reminisce that good time, when I was overjoyed in discovering and experiencing a movie like Mynaa.

Undoubtedly it’s pizza ! It’s not only the first to break the stereotype of big budget + mass hero + star musician can only deliver blockbusters but also inspired many talented youngsters to become a director . It proved that you only need a great engaging story is enough to pull audience. Karthik sunburaj will always be a pioneer in bringing hope to new generation directors. Special thanks to vjs ❤

@fullyfilmy I would say "Pizza" as it paved the way for many young talents right from the short films. It also increased the writers to create new types of films and stories. A movie without a light but given a new beam of light to Tamil Cinema. My favourite screenplay till date.

Attakathi was one of the path breaking movie of tamil cinema. Before that lives of Dalits was not mentioned properly in tamil cinema . This movie showed their life as normal as other's life. And main lead broke all the stereotypes a hero of tamil cinema had. He was normal human being who took failures as a part of life.

"Kadhal Kottai," directed by Agathiyan, This film is considered groundbreaking because it introduced a new, more relatable type of protagonist, played by actor Ajith Kumar. "Kadhal Kottai" introduced a new type of hero, played by Ajith Kumar, who was more relatable and grounded in reality. He played a simple, everyday man who falls in love with a woman he has never met, and the film focuses on their unconventional love story.

My answer is Uriyadi When the movie released I was a teenager and the newspaper posters seemed like a college movie and not anything else, I did not go to big screens for that but when I watched the movie I got to know a whole new way of story telling, like how good a scene can be placed and how politics can affect a college student directly. I really liked the movie and the originality of that one and I think the dialogues also had a great role to play and damn that interval scene. So yeah Uriyadi is my choice.

The movie was shown as a horror movie but as you watch it you understand the layers of a pizza delivery man’s basic needs regarding love and greed. His plan sets him up and this changed the tamil film industry as we know today. The films before had some kind of pattern but this film broke that barrier. It allowed for new directors to show their new ideas and work on some of the greatest films we know today.

Jigarthanda by Karthi Subbaraj created a new style in movie making. Especially the staging of the film such as the long shot of Sethu (Bobby simha) walking to the toilet and almost being killed by one of the hitsmen from opponent gang was a very gripping and memorable scene thus far. And through this film, we got to see Bobby simha as a promising actor due to his great performance as a madurai gangster. So Jigarthanda was definitely a pathbreaking movie for the gangster genre in Tamil cinema.

Due to this it was remade in multiple languages, especially by ARM in hindi. Santhakumar is another Mysskin, TRKR, Ram kinda film maker who does not care about business, but does the work for his love for art. His movie Magamuni was released years after Mounaguru just because he was on long travel after his first movie leaving all his friends, family and the industry.

Paruthiveeran ... The way the film was shot and the characterisation of each character stood in our mind after 2 decades... Tamil cinema has never celebrated a drunken womenzier hero and his transformation after love and the way Ameer showed Priyamani was excellent... Every dialogue in that film was so lit and the comedy are evergreen in 2023 also .. and the climax was so hard hitting no one say any word as their eyes filled with tears and yuvan's music is magical.. it changed tamil cinema and rural subject cinema alot...🛐🛐🛐🛐

Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu (2009) . We can draw a straight parallel to Chennai 600028 and this film. Set in a village backdrop with relevant humour and has the audience rooting for the team to win . This feel good humours film turns into a tragedy in a fraction of a second , leaving us with tears , undeniable impact and giving cinema a whole new bunch of stars.

IMO kattradhu tamizh by Ram was just phenomenal in terms of it's story matter showing the effects of globalisation and just about passion for a particular subject and his eventual change to sociopath and not to mention yuvan's wonderful composition. Kattradhu tamizh is the finest melancholy I've ever witnessed

I would say Kaadhal Kondein. It changed Kwood and made it accept dark characters and D as a villain. ❤️

Paruthi veeran that changed Sivakumar's son & surya's brother to "Karthi" the well acting star and with that kind of ending at that time was absolutely changing the view of tamil cinema for me.

Contrary to popular opinions, one of the best debut films that failed to make it to your video according to me, would be ‘Kolamavu Kokila’. Even though it was a film starring the lady superstar Nayanthara and a somewhat-familiar Yogi Babu, it was a total game changer for the role of comedy and comedians in a film. Nelson with his peculiar style of ‘dark-comedy’ established his territory in Tamil cinema. He made it clear that a film needn’t have a ‘Comedian’ per say. Any actor could inject humour and any comedian could deliver a terrific performance. The film though had slight resemblance to the Hollywood film ‘We’re the Millers’ starring Jennifer Anniston and Jason Sudeikis in the lead roles, it had a unique genre defying trait that could break clichés and had an everlasting impact on the ‘comedy’ genre and whole of Tamil cinema. The film was driven by a set of new and unestablished actors such as Arun Alexander, Redin Kingsley, Anbu Thasan, to name a few, alongside the lead cast. Yogi Babu reinvented himself to something more than a comedian - a ‘performer’ . Nelson’s ability to extract raw comedy from mundane everyday things is applaudable. This is my honest opinion. Thank you.

There are lot of films My picks would be 1.Aaranya kandam This movie brought a different style of storytelling, compelling screenplay and of course it gave us the pure yet to be utilized legend Thiyagarajan kumaraja. 2. Ratchasan No one expected such a psychological thriller from ram kumar and team ...ghibran music...This movie took the kollywood horror/psychological thriller genre to another level From OTT's We cant ignore the effect and the critic interest from different sections of India for 1. KD engira karuppu durai 2. Mandela

"Maayavan" - Science fictions are very rare among Tamil movies. This is one of those rarest movies. Acting is perfect. No one overdoing it or lacks it! Absolutely no cinematic or heroic deeds in this movie! This movie clearly exhibits the negative side of modern science. Another hidden gem!

Which best non-star film changed the Tamil film industry and why? Pariyerum Perumal Story is the king of any film and this film was no different. The film had a strong narrative that kept us engaged throughout. The way the director portrayed the nuances of caste discrimination and the performances of every single person in this film was exceptional. I couldn't see one unnecessary shot or any exaggeration in the performances. The director, Mari Selvaraj, proved that he has the ability to extract the best out of people. The sound "karuppi" in the voice of kathir is ringing in my ears as I write this. Mari Selvaraj demonstrated you can make a tamil film click where the hero does not need a mass introduction song, does not have a love interest, in fact gets thrashed by people. Sounds alien, but he did exactly that. The film was technically sound too!

"Kadaisi Vivasaayi" Though VJS acted in that film the film is not depend upon him. The movie goes with the Simple lifestyle of a farmer who struggles to farm and harvest just ONE YIELD. Without any stardom without any BIG SUPPORT the director was managed to provide a wonderful film... And i Think the film deserves a better recogonisation and I deserve the giveaway reward for this Answer😂😂
