Amos had known immediately that the situation between Holden and Naomi had changed, even though they were trying to hide it especially from him. Psychologists watching the show have called that "hyper awareness," and say it's a symptom of an extremely abused child hood. The actor, Wes Chathan, did study with a psychologist to play his role properly. We know that he was raised in brothels, he's still comfortable in brothels, and that he respects sex workers. His philosophy is simple. There were many paradigm shifts in this episode...situations that completely changed. One was the relationship between Avasarala and Errinwright. Covered by her actions during the Eros incident, Avasarala no longer need to play the role of the hardcore old-schooler who doesn't know the current game. Similarly, Naomi has been trying to get Holden to understand her Belter point of view, which Holden refuses to do...leading to her making a mutinous decision.

The actress who plays Avasarala, Shohreh Aghdashloo, published an autobiography, "The Alley of Love and Yellow Jasmines". I highly recommend it. She essentially had to flee Iran because of far right politicians. It puts an interesting context to her fiery rhetoric to Erinwright. It in the book (though in a different spot) but her life experience adds depth to it i think. Watching and performing in this sort of artistic space helps all of us get through this mad adventure we call life.

There are no wasted scenes in this show. Even Amos' conversation with Alex over types of people, his choosing to bunk up in a brothel, tells you more about his background.

And thus starts the adaptation of book 2, 'Caliban's War'. And in this episode we get an adaptation of the short story 'Drive' as well.

There are so many episodes that I love in this show, but I can't think of a single episode that has so many impactful moments within it! Naomi betraying her crew. The conversation between Holden and Fred about picking sides! Amos saving Alex then trying to mend thing between them. Interesting take on how Amos perceives people in the world.... we'll get back to that later. I absolutely love Chrisjen's hell fire speech! Which is indirectly meant for Erinwright as well. The actress is amazing because just at the end of that speech you can hint the emotions in her eyes from the trauma from almost becoming destroyed. And the ending. We told you to hold to your butt because this ride is fixing to get crazy!!!

Great reaction! I'm impressed you noted the names of the marines who died at the end from their suits, no one does that. Love it when Chrisjen takes the gloves off, such an epic and scary speech, must have been so satisfying for her. Fav Season? S3, but S2 comes close. And all of them are epic.

I had a good laugh when you muttered "I don't think I'll sleep tonight" 😂😂 BTW, isn't it revealing and sad that Amos must view himself as a bad person. He stated there were only 3 types of people in the world..."bad people... those you follow..and those you protect. Amos certainly doesn't need protection and he'd be the first to say he isn't one to follow. So, that leaves only one. Hmmm? You will learn more and more about Amos through little info nuggets, but this is one I think gets overlooked. Which category does Amos believe he belongs in? Seems to be only one answer 🤔☹️

My favourite season of this show is Season 3, but Season 5 is a close second. Also I still need to get around to watching Season 6, I was very busy when it came out and have yet to find the time for it, so that could take one of the top spots when I do see it, who knows.

in my opinion, the only reason season 6 isn't the best of the bunch is that Amazon abbreviated it to 6 episodes for financial reasons, so it feels a little rushed. Otherwise, it's right there with 3 and 5 and probably could have been even better.

This was episode where M appreciation of Naomis character vanished. When she started to become a one note Belter nationalist (when it suited her) and went from being keenly aware of OPA factionalisation to just ignoring it.

"I have a file with 900 pages of analyses and contingency plans for war with Mars, including 14 different scenarios about what to do, if they develop an unexpected new technology." "My file for what to do if and advanced alien species comes calling? It's 3 pages long and it begins with, _"Step one, find God."_ Damn that is such a great scene!! Love the reactions to this show and the growing fascination for it that we can see in you. 😊

@@MattNolanCustom Right. The three authors think the idea is fun, and said it would definitely work and sorta have an informal agreement *amongst themselves* about it; but to make the two intellectual properties part of the same timeline would require lawyers and publishers to get involved. Nobody wants that. 😝 However, they definitely give shout-outs to "The Martian" in this show. 😁

As I'm sure you know by now, s2e5 marked end of the first novel, the second by mid S3, and the third was compressed into the second half of S3 before SciFy's crap business model got the show cancelled. That's why the TV show feels like it speeds up in intensity, they're galloping through tons of material. If you want the best experience with the story, you must listen to the audio books of the original novels, even the TV show can't rival that. Plus the side novellas and you have a real treat. We're still hoping someone will make a spin off for the s6-7 break before filming the last few novels. Never say never. An Amos/Peaches horror sci-fi series would be awesome.

I love the entire show, and the first season does have a special place in my heart. But I think my favorite is the last half of season 3 (episodes 7 through 13) which corresponds to the third book. I also really like season 4, which is kind of the outlier. A lot of people don't like it. But I appreciate its vibes.

Mary, I very much like how you are reacting to this series... the editing for YT is well done -- almost seamless. ;-] (I made a point of mentioning the editing because I particularly dislike the way your Doctor Who reactions have the audio muted half the time... As a person with hearing loss in one ear, I find the practice disturbing and particularly claustrophobic. I hate that I may need to abandon those reactions.)
