I love the queen of hearts theme! I believe that Onyx is purposely pushing friends away (hence the cutting off their heads portion) while the reason is unknown, she’s distancing herself from everyone and it’s affecting her mental state. She wants help but probably doesn’t think she needs or deserves it after pushing everyone who cares about her away. I believe that her previous friends know this too and is trying to find a way to help her before she hurts herself more with this. I really like this character and I somewhat relate to to her!

Coupled with the comment about how she's pushed her friends away and seems to be defensive of that decision, I wonder if the inciting incident was Amethyst and Jet running away…? Maybe Onyx feels like her best friend betrayed her? Theories aside, beautiful animation! The song you chose fits the mood well and I REALLY love the Queen of Hearts motif! I think having a core theme really enhanced the animation :D
