Big Komatsu dozer getting moved on a lowbed after minexpo 2012 in Las vegas convention center

This video remind me when i was a 12 yo boy and visited the harbour of Bordeaux, France. 60 factory new Cat dozers arived from the USA and just been loaded on a train. All with the seats still wrapped in plastic, and not cratsh on the yellow paint. Even not on the tracks. The blades on a pallet in front of them and other accessoires behind them on the railroad car. 60 cars on a row. I will never forget that day. I wonder how many if them are still in use, now well over 30 years later.

HUGE machine , but that trailer and the Driver were awesome as well. Thanks for sharing : )
@drhula10 жыл бұрын
that driver was epic most truckers cant back a single combo but this guy had 4 trailer pivot points and made it look easy
@carmelpule69548 жыл бұрын
I just cannot believe that with that trailer having so many articulations, that backing can be done so accurately by a human driver without computer aide. Many years ago I tried my hand at making an articulated truck back in between the goalposts of a football field, from any position all without the aid of a human driver. That was bad enough but with so many articulations, well congratulations to the driver.

if you watch another video from this channel on a red trailer they actually have assistance so dont let it fool you theirs someone controlling the rear end of the trailer to get out, why else would ti have pistons on the back side
@wmden12 жыл бұрын
@@bjmxd Yes, the rear carrier was steerable. It was still a great backing job. I would hate to try it, with or without help.

Very impressive bit of truck handling. As somebody who has played a little with trailers a lot shorter in UK I am facinated to know just how the rear set of bogies is controlled (probably by a 2nd man when reversing ) as the front ( dolly in UK ) is obviously free on the 5th wheel, hence the need for a short shunt early on. The fact it was only took one shunt shows the experience of the driver. Credit where its due. He's a pro.

Very nice heavy hauling rig. Nice backing job, too.

The part of the trailor just behind where the dozer sits on the trailor detaches and sits right on the ground. The dozer can then drive straight on. Truck then hooks on again and lifts the trailor slightly off the ground and off it goes. They put down wood on the floor and don't turn the dozer so as not to damage the floor.

This is the kind of equipment we are using nowadays. The one shown in the video, looks cool, but is way to unflexible, complicated, so we scrapped them in the 1970ies. I am really amazed see you guys are using them today, no matter how cool they look. on ours, all axles can be lifted, steered, you can put more if the load reqieres it, you can make the flatbed longer, etc. And its way easyier to operate, and faster. But see for yourself what i am talking about.: Caterpillar 349E Longfront TIRS excavator oversize load Schwertransport Riedel

Lazy Jack Sure, you can configure it accordingly, no problem. Just add the axes you need for any particular job.

I do large moves occasionally and can appreciate watching all the work loading and prepping for the move. There is a lot of work behind the scenes before making this type of move. A lot of route planning is also done. The public never sees any of these things other than the drive down the road.
@AwesomeEarthmovers11 жыл бұрын
I would guess its connected to the steering system and just does its thing automatically as Ive worked with smaller trailers that had 4 axles that steered to get them around tight corners better and that just worked automatically.
@JohnGHall10 жыл бұрын
Yes, hats off to the red tractor driver (Kenny?) who backed that thing out of the plant.

thats a huge warehouse lol... little to no skill required in backing out (with spotters)

Reason it was so shaky was I had to get up and walk but forgot I had the camera zoomed which magnifies any shaking. Should have probably edited it out but oh well.

Well, from inside the cab , watching thru the mirrors is very difficult because the Attic/warehouse lights give the driver others perspectives. Even go in/out of the building. Some times blind you. I'm CDL licensed since 1989 got it in West Palm Beach FL community college.

They probably take the blade off on dozers a bit bigger that this one. Theres probably a width regulation for public roads and this dozer just scraped through.

no problem we all do things we wish we could do over. do you happen to know if the hydraulic cylinder that controls the very rear section of that trailer is manually operated by the driver or is some how connected to the steering system??

Hi, Nice video, thanks for the upload OK? Its OK seeing these huge machines, IE the earth movers, but it is the maybe not so humble road trucks who make it all possible! Take care and the best of the best for 2013
@AwesomeEarthmovers11 жыл бұрын
Couldn't do that because the dozer was on display at an expo and would have damaged the floor if it had to be moved outside. So it had to be loaded straight on where it was sitting.

Thanks for posting the video, that bulldozer is big for sure! And that rig which transports the bulldozer is one heck of an equipment, and to maneuver that thing...? By the way I just cannot figure out how they got the bulldozer on to the low bed semi's, if they are even called semi's.
@ANDREASRIAL11 жыл бұрын
the rear trailer is driven by another person when your are backing up, and when going forward are self steer, You can make then steer from the cab, but since the driver has no "eyes" back there, therefor are illegal. same principle as to transporting a ladder, (two people are needed)

Our trailers have rear/side cameras, new bright red flags and multiple flashing yellow beacons. If the warehouse isn't a drive through perhaps it would have been prudent to back in before loading.

Expo' ? That would explain the brand new Komatsu in a country other than Japan. At least I would assume that if that is The USA that Cat' would be much more likely to be seen, or if it were The UK, then JCB. I live in Japan, but have never seen any Komatsu kit quite that big, wow.

You can get permits for very wide loads. It becomes more difficult though with real wide loads because of limitations on the road therefore to costly. In this case if they took the blade off they would have done it outside the building because there would be more room.
Figured it was something like that. Otherwise it'd be impossible to control, kind of like pushing yarn.

@MrMarkpark10 жыл бұрын
they're cool because the drive truck bears little of the weight of the load. In fact they have them with an additional axle on the front of the trailer so that the pull truck bears none of the load. It simply pulls. Nice piece of driving too.
@trevt9910 жыл бұрын
Why was the blade not lowered down to the deck of the trailer?
@zeeshan_engineering_services7 жыл бұрын
LegalCT well due to articulation system at rear end too. It was not lowered.

@wyattjohnson464411 жыл бұрын
They use dunnage, aka tires, wood, anything to protect it. as far as the trailer is concerned, they drove it off and more than likely it sat where it was dropped off at.

Great vid, that sure is a lot of wheels for one dozer. In Europe the this load would be much shorter and the trailer wheels would steer, instead of a multi articulated lowboy, this looks not modern and probably very difficult to reverse.
