HEY! We're moving across Japan! I tried to document the "moving out" process as best as I could, so let me know if you have other questions in the comments.
It was heartbreaking leaving our home in Iwakuni... It has so many amazing memories and milestones for my family!! Thank you for letting me share this with you.
In today's video, I document parts of our packing process to streamline and make the move efficient. We used FUKUOKA CO, LTD for our movers in Japan. We used them when we first moved here and had an amazing experience.
Tips for moving with a toddler and dog (long-term hotel stay).
There is a partial empty nursery tour, which I have never shared before!
We discuss some logistics of moving in Japan, like pet deposits and rent. I will be sure to document the rental process more thoroughly in our next area of Japan: Yokohama / Hayama / Zushi / Yokosuka / Kamakura... we aren't sure yet!!
See you soon, folks!
xX,
Caitlin and the Atlas family

This video is so emotional. I remember stumbling across your Tik Tok during the pandemic and how this house is where it all started. Let the new adventure begin! Can't wait to tag along for all of the new content in the new home! Congrats :)

My family and I moved into a new home about 4 months ago. We had lived in the other home for 18 years, and it was where I raised my son, it's amazing how emotional memories make you attached to physical places. I totally understand your feelings. Moving is tough. Also, your son's Steiff bear could be a collectible one day. If you are ever interested, look the brand up and historical toy auction values!

Caitlin, if you have a Steif bear, that can be worth a LOT of money. You often see them on Antiques Road Show.

I can’t watch this whole room tour I’m crying. I had two babies in Iwakuni. I also have my goldfish and glass wind chime also in our US home. This brought up my own late nights nursing and rocking my babies in our Japanese house.

Wishing you a safe and happy journey. I was hoping to bump into you one day in iwakuni …as we are moving there from NC, my husband got a job promotion. We’ve been watching your vlogs for months now …thank you they’ve been so helpful and informative. I’m sure we’ll be visiting Tokyo so I’m sure your future vlogs will be just as amazing. Thanks again 😊

Awww, good luck with everything ❤ nice neighbours are hard to come by (but probably not in Japan!) so it's always painful to live when you're so used to seeing those people pretty much every day 😢 we hope you become friends with your new neighbours, too 😊

If you don't move often, it can be fun and exciting like a new adventure but if you move often like I did were I had to move 8 times in 6 years. It's like going to the dentist, you really don't want to go but you need to. Side note are disposable cameras still a thing in Japan? I don't think any of the drug stores near me have them.

Moving is hard. I just hate it. I said goodbye to my home I lived in with my husband and kids for 8 years and moved into my new home only to move again after 2 months out of the country. I cried like a baby. 😢

I'm curious about the mentioned "local page" (where you found a new home for your sofa) and "donations" where you were going to pass on stuff that you aren't taking with you. Is this a Japanese thing, or an ex-pat thing?
