hi everyone! welcome to our new home :') we finally said goodbye to our apartment of nearly 5 years and we will miss it dearly but we're SO happy with our new space. Here's a little apartment tour and a look at the slight chaos that was moving day. Sending love always!

I was gonna say the same thing. Watched enough dear modern videos to know having your head in line with a door is very bad energy flow.

I don't think either is good feng shui. You're supposed to have clear view of the door from the bed to feel safe while you sleep

​@@denissemondragon But the closets on the far wall make it difficult to place the bed in a command position, so the next best is Cari's suggestion for the bed. Kurt's position is the worst, because it's not only the most vulnerable place to sleep, all the foot traffic flow gets stopped as soon as you enter the room (making it more difficult to navigate to the closet) and the energy from the doorway bombards you while you sleep so you can't sleep well.

Also, on another note, the way your husband wants the bed oriented would make the most sense for the usability of the room. It would give easier access to the closet storage since you could go right to it from the doorway. If the bed is on the wall you want, then you would have to go around your bed to get to the closets and would have to leave more room on the side for bending and getting into the closets.

As an interior designer I vote put the bed where you wanted it, having it visible from the door is subconsciously going to make you feel unsafe and uneasy in that space, it's always better to put it in a way that isn't directly viewable from the door.

I’m voting for the bed orientation that you wanted, facing window. Having it right in front of the door will make the room feel cramped.

I agree with Kurt on the bed location. If you put it where you want, then there’s a strange rectangle of space between the bed and closets. Your new apartment looks great. So spacious and bright, and the view is lovely too.

P.S. many movers here in the States do often contract with other services now, like packing, cleaning, etc. to make the move easier. Just like where you are, the services are add-ons. Glad companies realized people may need help with that kind of stuff.

I remember when you were living in the basement apartment 😂 Love the views but I have to say that I literally felt myself flinch multiple times when you were cleaning the windows 😮 I'm currently in the middle of transitioning between two apartments and you can have movers pack your stuff in America. I suppose I would do it if I had a house full of belongings but for a small apartment I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense unless you feel completely overwhelmed.

i think the bed location feels best because it opens up the room more. as for the windows, i have seen on korean vlogs / insta a magnetic window washing set!! you should have a look. also how about having the desk in the middle of the room instead of facing the wall? can't believe you've finally moved!! the little objects around the house def made the space recognisable that it was yours!

Would love a video talking about why/how you decided not to own too many things and how you decide which items you think are important enough to keep on hand (shoes, cooking tools, etc). I’m in a small apartment and definitely need to downsize my things 😅

8:23 personally i like Kurt's idea to have the bed closer to the window! it sounds nice to wake up, turn your head to the side, and see those wonderful views before you :) and it makes the room seem more cozy overall edit: yay the bedroom setup looks so nice!!

This blog felt so short! So excited to come along as you tidy and decorate. I’m team bed facing the window too. I just love those views and light. Sorry if this is an obvious tip, but you can also buy double sided magnetic window cleaners that would let you access the whole exterior window without us all freaking out 😂

honestly, for the kitchen table I would place two long wooden blocks under the legs and raise it to be counter-level and make it part of the kitchen. and then maybe buy two high chairs. of course, it depends on what you prefer to prioritize - if kitchen space or dinning space.

I think bed placing the way you want is better than parallel w door. Cos whenever someone opens door if there is light outside, it will wake the other party. Congrats on moving! I have to move out suddenly but glad i managed to move without preparing for less than a week.

The layout is so intelligently designed. Love the wide space towards the bedroom and the folding doors! 😻 I'd suggest a full body mirror, Ikea has a solid one. Also maybe to consider if you want the light behind you in that case or aside you somewhere else. Anyhow a really great apartment!

You should use the extra space in the living room for a small dining table that could also be used as a desk space. You could have a bookshelf on the wall, then a small table out from that for more book storage too. For the kitchen, I would raise the small table thing by putting it on some kind of platform, so that it is flush with the countertop. Then you would have a really long counter for prepping or serving. Just some ideas! It is a lovely apartment!

Movers can pack for you in the U.S. too. We’ve always had movers pack for us. Once for a cross country move, and after kids, for every move thereafter. It costs more for them to pack because they charge you for all the boxes, but it was a service we needed. We’ve moved a lot. They come to your house to get an estimate of your stuff and take inventory so they can calculate how many boxes and what type of boxes to bring. They leave you with a stack of boxes that are piled high and we have to give away boxes slowly as we unpack. A different experience for sure! Congrats on your move! Your new place reminds me of when we first moved to NYC around your age.

I love your new place and all the beautiful sunlight from your windows. It's such a homey, happy vibe. The last time we moved, it was part of my husband's corporate relocation package that they paid for movers to come to our home and pack for us. It was amazing but so expensive! I can't imagine paying for that level of service ourselves, but as long as the company pays, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
