Also, on another note, the way your husband wants the bed oriented would make the most sense for the usability of the room. It would give easier access to the closet storage since you could go right to it from the doorway. If the bed is on the wall you want, then you would have to go around your bed to get to the closets and would have to leave more room on the side for bending and getting into the closets.

As an interior designer I vote put the bed where you wanted it, having it visible from the door is subconsciously going to make you feel unsafe and uneasy in that space, it's always better to put it in a way that isn't directly viewable from the door.

I agree with Kurt on the bed location. If you put it where you want, then there’s a strange rectangle of space between the bed and closets. Your new apartment looks great. So spacious and bright, and the view is lovely too.

I love your new place and all the beautiful sunlight from your windows. It's such a homey, happy vibe. The last time we moved, it was part of my husband's corporate relocation package that they paid for movers to come to our home and pack for us. It was amazing but so expensive! I can't imagine paying for that level of service ourselves, but as long as the company pays, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

i think the bed location feels best because it opens up the room more. as for the windows, i have seen on korean vlogs / insta a magnetic window washing set!! you should have a look. also how about having the desk in the middle of the room instead of facing the wall? can't believe you've finally moved!! the little objects around the house def made the space recognisable that it was yours!

Movers can pack for you in the U.S. too. We’ve always had movers pack for us. Once for a cross country move, and after kids, for every move thereafter. It costs more for them to pack because they charge you for all the boxes, but it was a service we needed. We’ve moved a lot. They come to your house to get an estimate of your stuff and take inventory so they can calculate how many boxes and what type of boxes to bring. They leave you with a stack of boxes that are piled high and we have to give away boxes slowly as we unpack. A different experience for sure! Congrats on your move! Your new place reminds me of when we first moved to NYC around your age.

You should use the extra space in the living room for a small dining table that could also be used as a desk space. You could have a bookshelf on the wall, then a small table out from that for more book storage too. For the kitchen, I would raise the small table thing by putting it on some kind of platform, so that it is flush with the countertop. Then you would have a really long counter for prepping or serving. Just some ideas! It is a lovely apartment!

honestly, for the kitchen table I would place two long wooden blocks under the legs and raise it to be counter-level and make it part of the kitchen. and then maybe buy two high chairs. of course, it depends on what you prefer to prioritize - if kitchen space or dinning space.

cari, regarding the bed situation. you can check chinese feng shui, I believe the bed should be south or east facing as it helps to give one a good sleep. I think it is because of magnetic thingie like in compass. you can also check that out. also, we also have a belief here in the philippines that you should never, ever, sleep with your feet pointing directly at the door. as a child, my parents told me that if I did, I might sleep walk directly outside the house and get lost and won't be able to return home. love your moving vlogs. Congratulations. I will miss the old apartment, but I am so happy for this next chapter for you and Kurt.

I remember when you were living in the basement apartment 😂 Love the views but I have to say that I literally felt myself flinch multiple times when you were cleaning the windows 😮 I'm currently in the middle of transitioning between two apartments and you can have movers pack your stuff in America. I suppose I would do it if I had a house full of belongings but for a small apartment I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense unless you feel completely overwhelmed.

I actually put my own bed in front of the door because I like being able to easily look outside to see what my family is doing. You should just try both orientations to see which is most comfortable for you.😊

This new place look great and so much sunlight, I hope you have a AC though for summer heat, though hopefully being able to open up the windows to bring in the breeze will be good for that. Just for safety purposes, when cleaning the outside of the windows, loop something around the handle of the window cleaner and then around your wrist just incase it slips from your hand it won't fall on someone's head down below you. Your apartment is so cute❤
