ok ON THE CREDIT SITCH! i literally didn't get a credit card/establish credit until THIS YEAR! (i'm 23) but because i didn't have credit, almost all card companies declined me at first/i never heard back from them like u! SO! u have to get a "starter card" basically just to build up a credit score/show that u will pay the bills. then u can get the ones that have better benefits later! i have a capital one platinum mastercard if that helps :') yay adult stuff! so stoked for u!
@julievaldez15634 жыл бұрын
avery, could u maybe talk about what it was like maturing for you and basically just realizing that you’re an (or close to being) an adult now and you have to do everything on your own lol? i feel like im super naive and sheltered and having sum serious growing pains rn that in a freshman and college. i cannot fathom the thought of me moving out rn bc im still very dependent on my parents and so i was just wondering what it was like for u

try a discover credit card! they have a specifically student card that is very easy to get and a referral program so you can get $50 if a friend with a discover card refers you (and they get $50). Not sure how easy the non-student credit cards are to get, but I would imagine they're more accommodating than some other companies based on the student card.

I think Avrey is taking the more responsible route. I'm glad she chose to live by herself instead of with her boyfriend because let's say they moved in together but then they ended up breaking up later on, (I'm just using this as an example btw!) then it wouldn't be any easier for them both because he'd have to take the time to move out.

Go to your bank and request what is basically a “pre paid” credit card. Say I pay the bank $500 for that type of card, then my limit will be $500. Easiest way to start your credit and when you actually qualify for a credit card you get your $500 back.

Cats are way more of a lifetime commitment than dogs are, they literally live longer. But if you do want to get a dog I’d suggest an older one from the pound so you can make the end of its life happy and full of love. Also I think you’d really like/bond with a bunny. Just a thought
@Zoeclarke014 жыл бұрын
Agree cats can live to 23 years old!! And a bunny is so high maintenance and if she goes out of town it can be hard finding a rabbit savvy pet sitter :/ I have rabbits and haven't been able to go on holiday for 4 years but that's fine as my bunnies are way better ;) 😅

yeah but bunnies are a lot of work too!! i have one and it isn't just a simple little ball of fur! they need big spaces to run around (i mean BIG) and don't actually enjoy to be snuggled with. they are very scared little creatures so they need a lot of care! not to mention taking care of them is as expensive as dogs or cats haha, but all in all i LOVE mine and i agree!!

I started with a basic store card, like department store card. And then just made a small purchase every month or so (like 10 bucks or so, unless I needed something). Then I got a personal loan for 1000 even though I didn’t “need it”. I just took the money, put it into an account with auto pay, and let that thousand pay it’s own payments on itself, if that makes sense. It paid itself off over two years. Just with those two lines of credit alone, I have “good credit.” It’s good to start small if you can. It sucks that store cards can only be used at the store it’s from (like a kohl’s card), but it’s just serving a purpose for a time until you can get a better card. Also, don’t get a card you’re going to be tempted to use constantly. I’m no expert, but I hope it helps anyone who had questions on getting started! I used to work at a bank, and for larger loans, they liked to see at least 2-3 lines of credit with a good payment history for two years before they will lend. I’m no expert, but I hope it helps anyone who had questions on getting started!

Love your apartment! But a tip about building credit - you actually don't need a credit card to build your score / maintain a good score. You're credit score will naturally be impacted by bills your pay. So as long as you're paying utilities on time, your credit score will be fine. I've lived in apartments for years, am 23 years old, and still don't have a credit card yet, but my score is still good.

I always recommend secured credit cards for young folks. Pretty much anyone is approved for them because you put up the money as a deposit on the card. You use them just like regular credit cards and they establish credit. After a year or two of those apply for regular ones. Also make biweekly payments. It makes your credit usage appear lower so it boosts your credit.
@shelbyshelton83713 жыл бұрын
I would highly recommend getting a steam mop or regular mop instead of a swiffer--they work *much* better and are better on the environment because you can reuse the pads on the bottom. Congratulations on your apartment!!! It's beautiful.

Chime banking has a credit card that helps you build credit! I have been using it for about 3 months now and it’s one of the best things ever. You can only spend what you put on it and Chime notifies you any time there’s any purchases made on the card, money has been removed from your account, and there is no fees or interest you are meant to pay back.
@LovelyDancer923 жыл бұрын
Store credit cards are the easiest to get as a first credit card. Apply to for that has a major credit card company associated with it, like Visa or MasterCard, that way you can use it at places other than the one store. My first credit card was the Old Navy Visa. You can use it anywhere Visa is accepted, as well as Old Navy, Gap, Athleta, and the other Gap Brands
@tumbling984 жыл бұрын
The first way i built credit was with a Kohls card and I also have an amazon card. :) Kohl’s card is super easy to build credit with because if you like kohls, you can just buy something with the card and then pay it off immediately at the store register. I’m sure other stores have stuff like this too and they should be pretty easy to be accepted to

In my country, most people live with their parents until they either marry or move to another city. Thus I have seen plenty of people in their 30s to 50s even 60s still living with their parents. I would definitely recommend getting a credit card, because its not a bad idea to start accumulating a credit score so you can later on rent another apartment, or if you want to take out a loan, etc, its helpful in showing the person/company who you want to rent/loan money from that you're trustworthy with your money. I have a student discover credit card and its been helpful to have, and you can get cash back when you buy from certain stores. The only thing that you got to be careful about when having a credit card is how much you spend with it, and to not exceed the amount of money per month that you can use it to spend with (because that will bring the credit score down). Also paying on time is also important, this can also bring your score down if you forget to pay it after a certain amount of time, so you want to make sure you know the date each month that you have to pay it on.
@laurenbrown66263 жыл бұрын
capital one has a few good starter cards, secured is a really safe bet if you’re worried you won’t get accepted but student and quicksilver are also good. my first was student and then they auto-upgraded me to quicksilver after about a year. try not to apply to a lot of places because the more you get rejected, the worse your credit becomes (even if you’ve never had a credit card)
