I don’t have as fancy coffee machine but I did find keeping it on a lipped tray made clean up so much easier. Possible given the angle you could have a narrow tray to put in front when your tamping down, and then store it vertically next to the machine when you not using it. Edit: the tamping mat is perfect, you read my mind.
