Trout and Coffee

Күн бұрын

It's spring in the Berkshire mountains as we work hard to finish the inside of the off grid cabin. I hook up a propane range and a closed hot water system for the kitchen sink before we move all our things in and decorate. Meanwhile, the hills come to life and we forage for fiddle heads, ramps and see all sorts of wildlife and baby farm animals.
For my merch, coffee or Ally's etsy, visit www.troutandcoffee.com

Great job with the hunting part. I really enjoyed that. I suffered what I jokingly described to my friends and family as a "life destruction" a few years ago... You know... ... Everything alive is always changing. Constantly. nothing can be stationary. People, emotions, health, thoughts, moods, outlooks, motivations, etc.. We should accept the impermanence. And WHILE things are fleeting, celebrate and appreciate them. Ernest Hemingway wrote something like: "the world breaks everyone - and later, some people are stronger at the broken places".. When we receive blows of fate, there are two common stances. One is to curse our luck, blame others, be grumpy, be resentful. The other is to accept fate, take steps to improve things, mend things, and keep moving forward. Moving forward also includes accepting that there are more ups and downs coming and being willing to participate in them actively and as the person you want to be. During a tragedy, and after, a very important question is: "What will we do with what we have left??"

I really appreciate that you show all the trials & tribulations of your cabin build. I feel with some other cabin build videos that I've seen where everything goes perfectly & in record time, it can appear overwhelming & unattainable for inexperienced people who dream of cabin life. I love how honest & realistic your videos are, all in good time!

Hi Kyle. I have been following you and Ally for close to 2 years now. Your stories and words always encourage me and make me think. I am 46 years old, and I’m going after some thing that truly excites me and scares me at the same time. After seeing my father recover from multiple brain surgery several years ago, I decided to go after something I’ve always thought about doing - entering a bodybuilding competition. I have been working towards this goal for 3 years now. Every morning I go into my basement on my treadmill and put you on my TV. I genuinely look forward to watching you and hearing your stories. I am finally competing this June and recently ordered some items from your website to bring with me as comfort and good luck. You have liters been with me on my transforming journey. That being said, my family and I are also taking a trip to southwest Maine this July. After watching all of your videos I was wondering if you could recommend a place we should go to. I know you’re in the Berkshires but I would love to experience just a small taste of what you are always showing us. You and Ally truly are inspiring and because of what I seen you produce I want to one day move up there and enjoy all the beauty it has to offer. Thank you for being true to your love and craft and inspiring me. Your grateful and inspired follower - Jen

I miss my Isuzu Trooper II, so much. My most favorite vehicle in my transportation history. I did so much, moved so many people, spent so much time in the woods, pulled my favorite jon boat, and home built camper with that truck. 5 clutches, 3 water pumps, 4 thermostats, 2 Fan Belts, I distributor cap, 3 spark plug wires sets, multiple spark plugs, points and condensers. Brakes, Tires, and lots and lots of adventures. Miss it.

I absolutely love all of your videos Kyle. Just the fact that you have so much nature involved in your vlogs, is what makes it so enjoyable to watch, and also just how down to earth that you really are. Tbh Kyle, I sincerely mean this as a compliment to you when I say this, and that is; that you remind me of a brother that I never had or, have never met considering my Mother once had a miscarriage, so I don't know if she would have had a boy, or a girl that is probably in Heaven right now. Anyway that's just how I feel about you by how you are and that makes me happy 😊

I don't know how you have not hunted yet since you live in a pristine habitat. You really are missing out on a whole other connection to the land that you so love. Hunting and harvesting pure organic meat is the most enjoyable experience. You know how your food was handled. I live in California where the laws are not so favorable to hunters. You have a greater opportunity than us less fortunate. That being said you nailed it on the head as far as the experience you get from hunting 'wild land'. You will feel at peace eating something from the land that you harvested than from the grocery store. Trust me.
