Handy storage ideas . On our boat we have vacuum sealed bags they’re great for forgetting all your seasonal clothes out of the way along with guest bedding etc and easily stored under the bed or in your dinette storage.

Also with regard to the bilges, every boat design is different so without looking I couldn’t say wether you have access for water to ingress from the engine bay to under your floors. Water in the engine bilges is completely normal under the cabin floors , not so much. Check your shower tray for perished sealant or any water there could be historical because of the shower overflowing at certain times. Mop up dry out and monitor . It’s the only way other than checking all your pipework in its entirety.

One last handy hint for today, when putting your mooring pins in , put on pin through the other at different angles , that way if you do get speeders coming by you have less chance of being dislodged from your mooring.

where's your tiller bar and pin (don't leave these in overnight/normally kept inboard when not in use)? That way you get a bit more control (and generally a wooden handle, not cold metal). Surprised you didn't get a handover from the previous owner - perhaps an episode to describe the why/how?

Enjoyed this video. Narrow boats are something I had never heard of prior to a week ago. In the US all the creeks, rivers etc are pretty wide so narrow boats are not needed. We have house boats and sail boats that you can live on if you so desire.

Sorry have no idea why " Jethro " but he was a extremely good comedian ?. Not a Canal Boater myself,unfortunately I and my Four Boys( well adults nowadays ) are landlocked due to two of my Sons being Autistic and all their Respite needs and Day centres are Town based…. We also don’t have enough Money for the sort of adventure that you are on but definitely something we would all Love. There is something Calming about Water, I did a couple of Norfolk Broad cruises with my Late father many years ago and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable experience/holiday I have ever had,even with it being a old Boat with Gas mantle lighting ( that should give you a clue how long ago it was 😮 lol 😂) but the next season we had a more modern Boat with electric lights and a diesel engine ( the first one:- Gemini 1 was all wood and varnish with a hint of petrol and damp smell in the morning but we still Loved that Boat ). The sights and sounds and smells of the Broads and the Smell of the Boat,water weeds were so amazingly therapeutic. One time we were moored up because of Heavy Fog and it was literally like being all on your own suspended in the clouds,not a sound and so quiet). Seeing your smiling faces on your first trip out,reminded me of the sheer joy and pleasure of that first trip out on the water. I think you can actually take Canal Boats across the Wash and join the Norfolk Waterways,maybe a trip for yourselves one day when you have Jethro how you want ?!. Think you are a lovely couple who exudes happiness and I’m looking forward to following your adventures and exploits ❤
