@robbflynn43253 жыл бұрын
@@GOATLAVISH777 Hi. I first emigrated here with my parents in 1983. Only stayed for a few years before returning to the UK. Was actually easier for me to return because the Green Card I was issued with back then had no expiration date, ones issued these days expire after a fixed period. Even after all the years away things like my social security number remains the same! From what I am learning things have tightened up, first following 9/11 and now Covid. Unless you have a very close relative or half a million pounds to invest you will find it difficult to reside here permanently, God knows they are even making it difficult for tourists. Also if you have a criminal record forget it. Canada may be an easier option, but then again with Covid who knows? Good luck to you whatever you decide!

I moved from the UK (Dorset) to the USA (Indiana) eight years ago, and I love it here. I still get a little homesick, and visiting family and saying goodbye every time is the hardest thing, no matter how many times you do it. I wouldn't change anything though, as the life I get to live out here compared to if I had still been living in the UK is second to none. My quality of life is so much better here in the USA. I have days when I cry because I miss my family and friends, and it's especially hard as I have aging parents (both in their 80s), but weekly Skype sessions help me stay connected to everyone. It's a huge change and takes time to adjust, but it is worth it.

@@TheLiveOutLoudFamily That's a relief on the degree front as it's currently going tits up! I go to UWE in Bristol, foundation degree was in Derby. So did you need to have a well polished cv to be able to get a works visa? I understood it that you needed to be the best of the best in your industry in a competitive field to stand a chance, or is that not the case? It's funny, I just saw you last video and i'm also setting up a wedding videography company! Can we just swap lives?
@TheLiveOutLoudFamily4 жыл бұрын
Peter Shepherd hahah I do miss England! One of those grass is always greener situations, haven’t been able to see my family in the UK for a few years now. In terms of working in the US on a j1 visa, you don’t have to be the best of the best or have degrees. When I worked in the US for a camp, the first year I tried Camp America, and it didn’t work out well for me, I couldn’t find a position. The second year I tried CCUSA, went to a camp fair I think in Cardiff and found a position with a camp almost right away. I would look up camps that are attending before you go and see what they are looking for so you can appeal to their needs, be OUTGOING! They are looking for enthusiasm, energy and experience. If you have any experience working with kids that’s beneficial, but not essential.

Amazing story. I'm 16 and am just not sure what to do with my life aha, currently living in South Yorkshire UK, and with the subjects I have chosen for A-Levels and my interests, doing something in games makes sense for me. With a lot of research, it's clear all the companies I believe I would enjoy working at more are in the US, and all the US salaries when it comes to game development/design seem to be much much higher on average. As much as I think the US looks awesome though, I just don't think I could move from the UK and family etc, guess I'll just see what I end up doing and if I actually figure out what I wanna do as a career. Wouldn't surprise me if I end up moving though. It's great to see how well things turned out in your move :)

Step. 3 Propose to a U.S. Citizen Step. 4 Apply for a Fiance Visa (approx $1,500) also known as a K1 Visa Step. 5 Move to the US once the Visa has been granted and get married to your fiance within 90 days of landing on US soil. Step. 6 Apply for a work Visa and get a job (any job will do... Ideally being able to show that you are earning legitimately and supporting yourself and your partner). Step. 7 Have a child or two Step. 8 Apply for full US Citizenship... Step. 9 Buy a bottle of Champagne and celebrate once your US Citizenship is granted.

Something like that you don’t have to have a lot of money saved up because the visa and lodging is provided, but if you want to go out, go shopping, and travel afterwards you will want to budget for that, but just like you would back home. Hope that helps!

If you work at a kids camp they help you pay for travel costs! I wouldn’t dwell too much on money if you are able to make some working while you visit. If you do something like at camp, meals are including and lodging. I took about £1,000 with me and made about $2,500, and that was more than enough to travel for a month after I was done working and I went to a bunch of different states afterwards. I hope that helps!

I love your story! It made me nostalgic! Definitely check out VisaJourney.com- I found a great community there and everyone was so helpful! Do you plan on getting married? I flew over on a fiancé visa. I think the paperwork is “doable” if you pay attention to details but a lot of people do hire lawyers for the process. I did it with the help of people on VisaJourney snd it went great. Make sure to take lots of screenshots, pictures, videos etc. they serve as proof of your relationship. That was a stressful part for us - we were married always and brought pictures of our wedding with both our families there and they still wanted the invitation 🤣. They asked all sorts of questions that I feel like normal couples wouldn’t even know, but just have faith in the process! Please keep us posted- so happy for you man! You have no idea how much this video means to me. It feels almost surreal after watching this. I’m 19 years old and I just finished my second year as a counsellor, on Camp Cayuga, the same exact one you went to in Pennsylvania. I met the love of my life last year, and just like you, we both worked there again this year. We both want to be together, but it’s tough since she lives in Alabama, and I live in England. We’ve talked plans over too many times to list, but I think it’s most likely that I’ll move over. I’ve always thought of moving to America and I think I’m going to take the leap.. especially because of the job opportunity in the media sector. The good thing about my situation is that my Mums whole family are American residents and they’ve all been telling me to come stay out there because I’m really young with nothing to lose so the cost of moving is literally just a plane ticket for me. as an American, this dude has thee greatest advice ever for Europeans. if you want to see the US, become a camp counselor. that is truly a capital idea, and of course, we don't think of that since we're already here. but as vast and expensive as the US is, especially for young travelers, this is a GREAT idea. you'll meet friends who will invite you to their homes, maybe travel with you, and it gives you time to learn about a place.

@@TheLiveOutLoudFamily You're welcome! Every single American who becomes a camp counselor will swear by the experience, but they of course never put in context of what an advantage it is for traveling the US. They all simply say how great 'camp' is, being a counselor, mentoring, making friends and generally having an amazing summer at a location that offers unique activities and experiences. I imagine it's similar around the world, however, the US offers so many opportunities simply b/c of size and access. Cheers

Thanks so much for this, have never seen a video of someone going to Michigan! Our stories are SO similar, I did a year abroad in Ohio (and hated it actually, it was really rural and didn't have a car), but then moved to Michigan Ann Arbor to work for Dominos corporate over summer! I am dual citizen btw which is very fortunate. I am now back in the UK about to graduate in finance, and I am mainly applying to USA jobs as there is just so little opportunity in the UK atm! I am looking at going back to MI, or maybe PA as most starting jobs at big companies seem to be in rural areas for some reason. The hardest thing for me as well is leaving family, I'm 23 and am so close with them all, especially grandparents and my sister has a baby on the way so it'll be tough! If I end up in MI I'd love to meet up for a coffee or something?:) How did you get over the culutre shock in USA? I found it quite hard as everything is money there, the people are completely different, and there is not much infrastructure like trains as in the UK. The money and career side of things look great however! Sorry for such a long msg
@TheLiveOutLoudFamily3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha yeah, I am living in a very rural area right now so I can totally relate to that! It's actually less than an hour from Ann Arbor. Did you like it there? We went to a Real Madrid game at the Big House and really liked it there! We actually met in PA! So cool that our stories are so similar. Let's definitely do coffee when you are back in the midwest! Whereabouts in the UK are you from? It's so hard to leave family, but at least you can always visit and vice versa. Covid has really been hard on me. We were planning on going over in 2020 :/ There was definitely a culture shock at first, but I didn't mind it much. Now I am so used to it and it definitely feels like home. It's probably easier for me though because after meeting Morgan we were always together and with her family. I imagine you probably made good friends at work too. That helped a lot! when are you thinking of coming back? So glad we connected!

@@TheLiveOutLoudFamily Real madrid at the big house that sounds fantastic! Yeah for sure, I loved Ann Arbor. Coming from Ohio farmland it was a very welcome change haha. I was there during summer 2020 so was quite locked down but still walked all around and some bars and restaurants were open. That sucks, UK finally getting back slowly so hopefully you can visit soon! I'm from Cambridge (but not posh) and studied in Bristol, which is why rural america was such a shock especially with no car haha. When I go back, I will get a car week 1 - is it easy to get financing over there or would I do it through a UK bank? Yeah I made good friends and had a very american gf (partly why I'm going back haha but mostly due to career opportunity and wanting to live abroad while young), but I deff found it harder to connect with americans over there than at home for some reason. Definitely met some amazing people though! Maybe Ohio was a micro climate lol. So good to hear it feels like your home, that is what I want:') Without Morgan do you still think you would have met lots of people and had a good experience? We are self-employed so we have to shop the marketplace for it and it and pay out of pocket to “be insured” and that definitely only covers part of our care- there are differences we have to pay and co-pays on top of that. She had literally nothing at the time and still managed to raise us as a single mother but I recommend you applying and securing a job here, then moving here on a work visa, and finally applying for citizenship/naturalization

I completely agree with this - there are companies that provide work visas and while you are here you can work on your permanent move!

@@TheLiveOutLoudFamily hey just wondering- which do you personally prefer? The US or UK?

@@exocq too hard to choose. I miss the UK so much- my family, the vibe but the US definitely feels like home now. They are just totally different.

Joseff Emmanuel Thank you so much for your question! For 2 summers I worked on a J1 visa at a summer camp. What camps are you looking at? Do you have an idea of where you want to be in the US for your camp experience?

hey i did an exchange recently in Chicago. spent 4 months and fell in love with it. I came back 6 weeks ago and I just don't belong here it doesn't feel big enough for me despite living in London. I want to move to the USA but no clue how to do it. Im a musician I play at weddings and hotesla and teach piano do you think theirs opportunities their that will take international people??

I completely understand that feeling! I interned in Chicago - I just love the city! Hmm work visas can be hard. Do you have a blog/ vlog? I have been seeing on a immigration lawyer’s social that I follow that there are talent visas for influencers. I was on his show a few months ago and he puts out a lot of free resources. Check out Shamayev Business Law. Please keep us posted on your journey. I can completely relate!

Is there any chance/route for a non skilled worker to move to the US without a job offer? What if i just wanted to sell my house which is mortgage free and use that money to buy a cheaper house in the States and use the money left over to live/retire off. Is that possible and if so how?
@TheLiveOutLoudFamily20 күн бұрын
@@goodcat1982 I’m not really sure! We are friends with Shaymaev Law Firm - he has tons of free resources and is an immigrant himself. He would be a good resources! Something you might want to keep in mind is we don’t have an NHS over here so you will probably want to take finding insurance and saving for medical on top of that a priority if you are considering moving over here. It can really add up! Morgan was employed at a small company (making decent wages) and having both the boys WITH insurance costs us $27,000 out of pocket- again that’s with instance. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around 😂

@@TheLiveOutLoudFamily Thanks i'll check him out. How did she go about getting the job? Was that lined up before going out there? I'm a builder so not sure if i can just get a job. It says it has to be a job that Americans can't find locally.

@@TheLiveOutLoudFamily I didn't specialise in anything. I've just finished my 3 year long degree. I'd love to find somewhere to work in America but im not fully qualified yet. I was considering doing a master's in America and getting a student visa but it seems expensive.

@@AnonymousSuperTuber I live in the US right now. If you consider moving here, You need wall adapters. If you bring any electronics, make sure the electronics are DUAL VOLTAGE. The outlets use 110-120 volts in the US. The only major change is the street traffic lights. It does green then amber then red. then red, green, not red amber green

Hello! The first time I went to the US it was on a J1 visa, which was a work/travel visa. I worked at a summer camp for 2 months and then got to travel after. When I moved permanently it was on a k1 fiancé visa, as we were engaged at the time. There are also a h1b visa that allows us companies to hire non us citizens for specialized jobs. A good starting point would be to check out visajourney.com they have lots of useful help for every type of visa. Thanks for watching and good luck!

im from the uk and lived in CT for 5 years. No Im thinking of going back. Most places are better than the uk :). People dont know what they are missing. so much to see and do, Plus your not staying in one area saying opinions you have from a small area. Things change when you move, if your lucky you can become more worldly. Enjoy mate.
