Just thought I'd mention, after a few comments on the topic, that my partner and I both work remotely (me as a photographer, creating imagery for brands, and Alex works in software). More and more people are finding this kind of lifestyle possible after remote work became more common during/after the pandemic ☺

Have you thought of investing in a drone to capture all the stunning Welsh countryside? You don’t need to reveal where you live, just pick and choose on your travels. Apologies if you already have, just caught up with your channel today. Subscribed, liked and wish you well. Carmarthenshire is absolutely beautiful too.

Codswallop I have driven around Snowden(not Guinness Mont or whatever the local tongue says) three times and all I saw was mist, then, when entering shops, the locals turned away, refused to engage and started speaking in the local patois with a malice that was palpable. I am far from the only foreigner who has experienced that there.

My gran had a saying, the gist of which was that the difference between living for the little moments and the grand ones is simple. There are bound to be millions of little ones, and only a handful of the grand. We all know the grand ones when they come along, so you don’t have to worry you’ll miss out on them. But true living is embracing all of the small moments. That's where you’re most likely to find yourself. I missed a lot when I was younger, because I was sure that I, the globe trekking, big moment seeking wanderer, had it right. I didn’t. So glad the two of you are living the small, truly extraordinary moments together, and sharing them here as well. Enjoy!

I live in the rural U.S., West Virginia. I wouldn't even know there was turmoil if it weren't internet news, which, I believe is the point, but my point is that the majority of the U.S. is normal people trying to live a more honest life, back to basics, and finding happiness in the interim, like this lovely young couple in Wales.

I relocated to Wales 4 years ago, and the relentless winter grey does take bit of getting used to! The late spring and summers here are lovely, but it is definitely an adjustment. Lovely video!

@@KayeRobs that’s an interesting idea! I have always tended to take the winter months off because of low energy, but then felt sad to work all through summer. Maybe I’ve been doing it wrong! Your video made me have a tear or three for all the things that make me homesick. Beautiful trees, animals in fields rugged coastlines the Dawn chorus, beautiful little towns. To live remote you need more cats!! I now live on a small island on the Atlantic coast of Canada, Fairly remotely, 2 hours for a big shop. I love it. I don’t miss people. I watch the deer, pheasants and eagles flying over, I embrace the little things every day. A pretty cloud, the change in colour of the ocean, the different wild flowers. I try and embrace the best of the seasons every day, whatever it may hold. I miss my family and friends and go back to visit England. Loved what you said about the hard winter stripping away things you needed to let go, and making your roots stronger. It has been filled with challenges but more than anything, it has been a healing balm for me. The winters can be long and harsh as you have seen in wales, sometimes it’s relentless but oh it’s rewarding too. Your video was beautiful, your words poignant. Keep going. ❤

Thank you for sharing this beautiful journey. The peace in your video has healed a little corner of my own burnout. Makes me long for solitude and healing in the quiet places, where you must allow yourself the space to just "be," to exist, as you said. What a beautiful concept, and one that I have been trying to attempt, more and more, as I grow older.

I envy you so much! Lovely living there. If you need more insulation during winter, try this trick: spray water on your windowpane and put clear bubble wrap on it from the inside. The light gets through, but it helps keeping the house warm.😉

I know exactly where this is - my husband's family have spent a week in a cottage visible at 0.14 every summer for the last few decades, and for the last seven years I have been lucky enough to join them. It's such a beautiful, special place, our long-term goal is to move here too. Wishing you every happiness!

Hi Beth just found you on You tube. I live in Carmarthenshire on a homestead. Lived in Wales for nearly 21 yrs from England. Absolutely love Wales. We have learnt to live around the seasons as we work a lot outside and embrace the seasons as they arrive. I used to live in Pembrokeshire too. It’s stunning as are all parts of Wales. Look forward to next video. Your cottage is amazing. Enjoy xx

Agree about living according to the seasons here. It’s an old fashioned detail I love. I’m in North Pembrokeshire on an old farm. I don’t know if you live close to the sea, but I’ve found that the shipping forecast is more reliable warning about the storms than the standard weather forecast. It’s handy to know if a storm force 10 is due and outdoor things can be gathered up safely in advance.

It's almost like I'm watching myself. We sold and moved this year in April. We are only 10 minutes away from Wales, and we are in a fairly rural location. We are still adjusting also. But we absolutely love it here. The peace and the beauty of the stillness. The wildlife. We are yet to experience our first winter, but for once in my life, im actually looking forward to it. Even as Autumn has now arrived, it evokes a totally different sensation in me. All the leaves are slowly turning into warm colours, and Im even looking forward to snowfall. I hope so. Apparently, we will get a lot. I'm so excited. I do find myself feeling isolated at times as well. My family is scattered all over. But, I keep myself busy with projects and crafts. It really helped. I also got burned out when we first arrived on top of Fibromyalgia. I had to learn to be kind to myself and rest until I had the strength to continue. You do learn a lot. Im glad I discovered your channel. Maybe I won't feel so alone now. I wish you all the happiness.

This was beautiful. I've moved from the U.S. to Ireland. My first winter was by the sea, but not isolated from people. This summer, we moved to the Wicklow mountains. I have forests now, and the isolation is just what I need to recover from burnout. I'm heading into my first autumn in the countryside, wondering how it will be, but ready to embrace it.

I so look forward to seeing how the cottage and garden develops and wish you love and strength in healing ❤️ps love the clay birds you’re very talented!

Welcome to Wales :) if you didn't know already, it rains a lot here and is grey a lot lol. My advice is to keep your home bright and cheery when it comes to decorating (grey walls massive no no) because the bright/light colours will help cheer you up and keep you sane during the winter months of doom. lol. You are both living the dream, I really wanted a home with land and middle of no where but sadly couldn't find any in my budget, instead found a beautiful home and huge garden not far from the Gower. but often visit Pembrokeshire to surf and there's a great women's group if you were interested! Drop me a message :) its a great way to meet local ppl for you! Pretty sure there's a few local hiking groups too! Also I think you're near solva and if so a cute little yoga studio she's great! xx
