Jersey native. Im in my forties and don’t party like that, but Iike options and other types of things to do. I have lived in ATL for years, the DMV, and Tampa, FL. Left FL last year due to the ever increasing cost of living, and growing bored of it after ten plus years. Since I’m single and my kids are grown and live out of state, I have flexible work, I decided to test out a few cities before finding housing and settling down. Started with Charlotte as family lives in Huntersville, and when I tell you, I was so damn bored in Charlotte I had to leave after only 2 months. When you live in other cities that offer more of things to do, restaurants, shopping, festivals, museums, etc. and compare it to Charlotte, it seems limited. To me, Charlotte was slow, country and/or racist in the outer suburbs/cities. Or I would go somewhere and think the area was nice and when I told people, they would be like “Oh, thats the hood over there..be careful..lol. And they were from places like Brooklyn, Bronx, etc..lol. I did like Uptown vibe and South Park area though. I felt stares when I went out to places like Mooresville, Huntersville, Concord (outside of Concord Mills vicinity), Matthews, etc. Even when looking at apartments, the vibe felt off like they were still getting acclimated to blacks moving to those areas..lol. Though racism exist everywhere, I didnt experience that in other cities for the most part. From there, I stayed in San Antonio for a couple of months and although it has its caveats, I liked it a little better than Charlotte. Ultimately, I settled in Houston suburbs and i’m liking it. Its not perfect either, but there is so much to do and experience here. There are hoods and crime here like anywhere else, but I guess because it’s a larger metro area and more spread out, it doesn’t bother me as much. If your content then stay put for now. Most of the cities I’ve lived in have lots of people coming and going, but if you like it, you can’t let it sway you. There is always travel. Best wishes.

Charlotte is not a burn out city. Charlotte is laid back and still country. Everything has been pushed out of Charlotte due to tax fleecing by city. Everyone new are mostly from somewhere else. @@EJIMANnenaNgozi you can definitely stay to yourself in Houston and not even be bothered with the club scene. The things to research would be the weather, politics and how clean the city is. Houston is probably the most unique city in TX, but also the most troublesome just because of the weather. It floods badly after 30 mins to an hour of rain, TX is on its own power grid separate from the rest of the country, so when hurricanes come, bad storms, power goes out easily. Power was out for almost a month for thousands of customers after this last hurricane a month ago. Choose wisely.

I have been living in Charlotte, NC since 2015. When I first moved here, I used to like it. Now, it's not as good anymore. Housing has become very expensive, and I feel like Charlotte is becoming more racist and segregated. If you go to South Blvd, you will see what I am talking about. if your 5ft11 or 6ft1 your height can be intimidating to both men and women. I typically attract taller women too me. Im only 5ft8. The tallest woman i ever been with intimately was 6ft5. Men fear now and days if she is really tall was she born a woman, there is a co-worker she dresses and looks like a female. Her voice is not really deep, but its unisex. I cant see adams apple or anything but i can tell she likes me, because every time she sees me in passing she speaks to me and sometimes i catch her watching me, i didnt want to asked her if she was born a woman because thats rude. But she just has a voice i cant make out. so i just keep it cordial with her. Alot of times being tall ie 6ft and up throws men off for other reasons. especially if they not as tall as you, most men just assume they will be rejected because of the height difference so they just avoid you, out of sight and out of mind. They may really like you or find you hot but the temptation of you is not stronger than fear of perceived rejection. Most men only approach women they think they can get. They dont go for girls they think its 1% chance she might reject me.

@EJIMANnenaNgozi I am originally from Alabama. I left Alabama in 2018 and moved to Charlotte because I had visited the city with a friend and loved it as soon as I arrived to Charlotte. I left Charlotte and moved to Atlanta because I have a lot of family in Alabama and I was driving over seven hours every month to visit them. Unfortunately the small town I am from in Alabama, the nearest airport is two hours away. I moved to Atlanta because the drive time to my home town is only three hours.

I felt so similar to you when I moved to Raleigh. I ended up moving back to my home state and now I want to move back to Raleigh lol. Having a community matters but it can take awhile to build. If your roots are in America, meaning, you're an American Freedman (This sister is not), you should DEFINITELY move to Charlotte. The immigrants are taking over this city that we've inhabited in great numbers since the Reconstruction era. We me more of OUR PEOPLE from right here in America to get to Charlotte and all of the cities populated by our Freedmen family.

@@EJIMANnenaNgozi they are. I travel there often and every single construction site is filled with Mexicans/Hispanics. Indians have most of the tech jobs and own almost every hotel and gas station. Many of the new "black owned" restaurants are Caribbean, or African, not the people who are actually American (we say "American Freedmen"). That's a takeover to me. Atlanta for instance, is no longer a majority "black" (I really don't like that term) city anymore. That's why my initial message is what it was; we need our people who are American Freedmen to get back to the Southern states and takeover the political apparatus there. Then we can PROPERLY allocate resources and create opportunities that reduces crime. Crime is a result of poverty and we've been locked out for generations in this country.
