I have watched several of your videos and listened to information you have provided re moving to the area. You have definitely caught my attention. Great work. My daughter has applied for a job in CDA in the medical field. If the job is right we will be moving there. I’ll be sure to contact you. It’d be great to have someone as knowledgeable as you to help us pick the right place for us.

Why someone would thumbs down this is beyond me, anyway the town and surrounding areas look fantastic, my son is going to college there in August (17) for two years, there were a number of places in the States ( we are from Liverpool, England) that he could have went but the NIC and the place in general stood out, he can't wait to go, can't see him coming back to Blighty for the holidays after looking at this footage!!

Alvin Chipmunk Let me guess, Oregon is too expensive? Or is it too far left for ya? I'm moving to Spokane instead of Seattle because politically it seems to be a good mix. Not too liberal, not too conservative but just right. Anyway I heard Coeur d Alene is pretty affordable, true?

Really enjoyed your video and needless to say you have created a beautiful home in an idyllic location. My wife and I recently retired and are looking to relocate to a slower, more peaceful 4 seasons area. Your location is exactly what we are looking for. Was wondering if you could share with us what a lot similar to yours (gated community with trees on 3/4-1 acre) would cost in today's dollars in Coeur d'Alene and also about what we should expect to spend per square foot to build a house. Thank you!

As for lot prices, I can't give you an answer as land prices are very area-specific. Regarding new construction, I'll do my best to answer your question, but we bought a house that was already built. So I don't have a lot of personal experience with new construction up here. However, I do know several people who have done it, and this is what I've learned: 1. Finding a good contractor can be difficult. A lot of them will make an appointment and not even show up. And the ones who do show up are often not on time. Once you hire someone, they do things at their own pace (we call it being on "Idaho Time"). So deadlines are often missed. Plus, because the area is booming, the good contractors are very busy and most likely booked solid for awhile. 2. Depending on where you're building and which governmental entity you're dealing with, the permit process often moves at a snail's pace. So even if you get everything else lined up, you may not be able to break ground until well-past your retirement date. 3. The more remote the land, the more you have to do to make it build-worthy. You may have to remove a lot of trees and build a road or long driveway. If the site is not connected to municipal water and sewer, you'll have to drill a well and set up a septic system. Electrical lines will have to be run to the house from the nearest pole (which can be far away) and you may have to get a propane tank. 4. New construction in a remote area is a lot of work and can be very frustrating. Even if you're able to put all of this together, you have to deal with trying to get the contractor to come back out to fix stuff that wasn't done right (and there is always stuff to fix). We actually thought about new construction ourselves, but after considering all of the above, we opted to find the best house we could afford that someone else had gone through all of the trouble to have built. This is a beautiful place to live. I wish the best of luck to you and your family.

Check out Sandpoint Idaho. Less polluted lake, can see to the bottom almost, it's the deepest lake this side of the Rockies, bigger fish, less crime, more laid back. Can still buy lake side lots or property to build. Is a nicer resort town than Cd'A.

Congratulations!! My family and I are coming out there this Spring to see if we want to move there. We spent 2 weeks in Boise and liked it but it was a little too big. We want more open space and less people. Boise is getting overtaken with people from California. They are flocking to Boise in droves. I hope it's not the same in Couer d Lane. We want to live near people who love this country and love freedom. We met lots of people from California in Boise who seem to want to make Boise California. Not our cup of tea. Your house is gorgeous. Very happy for you guys. We can't wait to come out and enjoy the incredible beauty of Idaho again! All the best to you!

Thank you! We used to live in Northern Colorado and the same thing happened there as is currently happening in Boise. It ruined the area. We started looking for a better place and considered Montana (Bozeman), but found that it had already been "discovered" and was going through the same growing pains and cost of housing as NoCo. North Idaho is very beautiful and everything you described. I have another video on my KZbin channel which I created and uploaded recently which highlights some of the beauty of this area. Having said that, you should know that this area has also been "discovered" and they're starting to build more houses. Even then, we don't plan on ever leaving as the only places to get away from growth these days are out in the middle of nowhere and we aren't interested in that. Best of luck to you and your family as well!

Colorondo Hopefully the patriotic ppl will always outnumber the liberals in Idaho. A lot of Californians are moving because of the cost of living. Housing is ridiculous in California. As long as they're nice and don't try to pull their fascist politically correct bs on me, we'll get along. Once they start burning the flag and rioting, we will have major issues. I hope that never happens. Time will tell. I grew up outside of DC and despise what the left has morphed into.

Cda and Sandpoint are being overtaken by Californians just as bad as Boise if not worse. It's causing the housing prices to raise and our towns to expand into what was once farm country. It's sad. Most people native to Idaho don't take too kindly to transplants so keep that in mind. Get your ID's and license plates changed asap if you move here. It's not uncommon for people here to see a California or east coast license plate and something be done to that vehicle. As long as you come here with the Idaho mentality you're good. If you're easily offended Idaho isn't for you.

we moved here from CA 12 years ago and love it. I love the pace of life, the outdoor activities and family friendly lifestyle, hubby loves the hunting, shooting sports and fishing. I love it so much I became a realtor. let me know if you're interested, in seeing homes or land in the Coeur d'Alene area. I'd be happy to show you and your family around. I love introducing people to our area. Unlike some of the rude ppl in this thread, I have found most people here to be very welcoming :-)

I live in Coeur d'Alene Idaho and I think it's safe to say that Idaho is a very beautiful peaceful place it has absolutely no natural disasters we do have earthquakes but they are very very tiny 99 percent of the time you can't even feel it so if you want a amazing safe place to raise a family or just be safe then move here

yes, the panhandle Priest River, Bonner's Ferry. Sandpoint used to be that way, but no longer. Basically avoid the bigger towns and any of the small towns bordering the big towns and you're good.

Don't move to the place where all the Californians are moving to because eventually it will become liberal. I live in Alaska and I am scared to death my state will turn blue because of people from Seattle WA moving here.

I live in California and believe me I am not a liberal, most people I work with and my family voted Republican. With that said I think that the Californians that want to move is because they are sick of California politics.
