Moving to Copenhagen: It Did NOT Go as Planned 😩 | un-romanticised

Hi I'm Sara a junior architect that started their career journey in Denmark.
The first few days in Copenhagen were ROUGH. I was missing my loved-ones and I was tired of moving every year (despite following incredible opportunities). Here are a few moments from that difficult week.
I hope it brings some reality to these romanticised "move in" vlogs I see so much of online :') . Sometimes it's just not that.

Luckily you survived. I can promise you, that the rest of your life will be like that. Constantly adjusting, that's what you have to do as an independent adult. If you get kids, it will be much worse. You have to take decisions for them too, as your parents did for you. I am not “dissing” you, just trying to tell you, that it is just life. I am 64 years young. 🙂 A tip: NEVER be late here in DK. It is a disrespect towards the people that are waiting for you. If you are late, send a text, even if it is only 10 mins. Explain that the Metro had a puncture or something else silly, so everybody can have a releasing laughter. Don't be late, privately or on the job. Use the alarms on your phone. Third tip: Danes do not go asking are you alright? And are you OK? We assume you are OK. It is very much expected, that you ask if you are having problems. I guarantee you, Danes will “queue up” to help you. Danes are really very helpful. We are taught to help each other, even the Swedes. BTW, you will find out that Norway and Sweden are our brothers. What do brothers do? They tease each other. There are many jokes flying around here. Hope you will get a good internship and welcome to Denmark.

I love how different people experience cities differently. I enjoy Copenhagen but other cities have also been fun!

Yesss, sometimes life does not go exactly as planned, however i like this part of social media when we don’t try to hide that fact 🤍 Besides, i remember all thiiiiiis ‚being’ with you online and you did great job managing and surviving 🏅
