I moved here 2 years ago from CA and it’s horrible. The people, the drivers, the district rules for the schools and healthcare. It sucks
@markrichards68632 жыл бұрын
I think you should have figured that out before you moved there. But California sucks too, because it's so expensive and the traffic is horrible. Maybe if you had moved to Columbus, your feelings would be different. I live in NYC, will retire in a couple of years. If I was young and starting out I'd head for Columbus or Pittsburgh, both being aff6and cosmopolitan. I live I. California for 15 years, SF Bay area, really grew to dislike it by the time I left. The last 23 years in NYC have been much more enjoyable, at least until covid hit. If you ate positioned to move again, do your research. I'm sure there is a happy place out there for you. Some rust belt locations are better than others. Dayton was a strange choice.

Just bought a house here in Dayton and didn't know what I'm getting myself into. I have a lot of positive thoughts and hopes for the city and it has a lot of potential to be great place (not that it ever wasn't). I'm a transplant from California and I moved here due to the cost of housing (not living - as the house I bought in Dayton would cost about half a million in California and that's what's amazing). I'm looking forward to what this city will have for me to enjoy and hopefully the city planners will help turn it around some more.

Hi Stevenimich Archangel! Thanks for the view and comment! It is astounding how much less expensive other states are compared to California. I know this is coming from relators who have an interest in their own profit, but this incredibly disappointing in how it glazes over the very real issues Dayton has. School funding, public transit, exurb flight, crime (but more, the systemic issues that cause it), segregation. I believe the words "This is bad comedy" are most relevant. And if you are getting hit by quotes from a 1986 animated movie about robots, maybe you should reconsider your works. Also as a Chaminade Julienne graduate of '98, the people scared of downtown calling it not very nice, are actually part of Dayton's root cause problem. I knew this then and I know this now as a resident of Columbus' Short North. We all know what Being Scared Of That means. I'm saying canines can hear it, to be crystal clear.

the presenter is a realtor. realtors glance over the worst cons. there are well over 10, 000 derilect structures that are overdue to be torn town. the crime rate is very high. the cost of housing in dayton is cheap for a good reason, it's not a nice place to live. since the late 1960's the population has dropped way over 100, 000 people. the schools are plagued with problems. i'd look elsewhere.

Thanks for the comment Gary Brown. Yes, there's no doubt in this video that Tim is a Realtor. Whether you choose to move to this area or your company or career brings you here, it's usually best to concentrate on the good things verses the bad. Tim moved 8 times in 14 years with the US Air Force when he was active duty prior to his Real Estate career, Dayton is not even close to the worst of those cities/areas. However, it's all based on perspective, and we appreciate your input.

Same with the realtors trying to sell Cleveland as such a great place. It's not, I was born and raised there and watched the decline in population and the skyrocketing crime for years before finally leaving. They can "revitalize" all they want, but if they don't solve the crime and other major issues, it's just polishing a turd.

@@LivinginDaytonOhio good things versus the bad. Verses is the word for blocks of poetic lines. Like for instance song verses versus the chorus. But also focusing on the good versus the bad is a fine thing to say but as a realtor you know there’s a line between glancing over a few minor details that paint would fix to make a sale and purposefully obscuring major damage and flaws just to flip a lemon. The real problem with this video - the part that makes people think this guy’s not from here at all - is that his cons list reads like a joke random sampling of stuff he saw in pictures, his pros list are all examples of things that are actually wrong here, and he doesn’t mention a single one of the actually nice things about living here.
