The world needs to learn o the reality in El Salvador and that is that is not what some or most of the main stream media is reporting about El Salvador, President Bukele and the measures President Bukele's adm. has taken to change the course of the country, putting the country in the spot light, not because of bad thing, but for positive changes that makes the country an option for foreigners to consider tp stablish businesses in El Salvador, but also to be living in El Salvador as it is your case.

Very reasonable question, thank you. We had a long conversation about this before we boarded the plane. We decided that we would be very careful not to impose our culture, values, or politics onto the Salvadoran people, and to instead assimilate to their way of life as much as possible. El Salvador has become a place that attracts people. No longer is it regarded as a dismal and violent place with no future. When somebody comes here to visit or to live, it is a reminder that El Salvador is a country to be proud of, which has something to offer the world, and where each generation can feel optimistic about the next. If there's any contribution a foreigner can make to El Salvador's cultural identity, that's probably the single most valueable one.

Great question, thanks. We have fantastic internet, as does everyone we know. We use a provider called Cabal; some of our friends are on Claro. We've all found the internet to be as fast and reliable as our home countries, and at a much lower price. Perhaps it is not as reliable in the mountains or in rural areas, as is true of most places. San Salvador and the beach towns have great service though. I understand Starlink will be available here soon, having recently extended coverage to Guatemala.

How can I open a bank account in El Salvador from the United States?

You need your residency card, passport, and tax ID number (NIT). If you don't have Spanish, you'll want to bring an interpreter. You'll ask for an account and proceed to deal with a whole lot of bureaucracy and red tape. If you're lucky you'll get it quickly, otherwise you'll need a few trips to the bank. It's much simpler and easier to manage your economic life on Bitcoin. We have a bank account here but we don't use it. Thanks here are rolling out Bitcoin interoperable though, should make things easier.

Wow he’s absolutely on the money when it comes to finding a place. My wife and I got lucky because the place we bought didn’t even have a sign posted. 4 millions of 6.5 millions of salvadorans living in the country downloaded the Chivo Wallets already and thousands more know or have other wallets. Maybe you're right about remittances, but that's lack of financial information or infrastructure in the countries that the 3 millions of salvadorans they live aboard. The "problem" of the people in El Salvador could be of perception of what other people like you or me have on BTC, they started with the crypto as legal tender and not as a asset that can increase their wealth.

There is a business opportunity for someone to create a site for anyone to list their property for rent at a fee. Maybe at the beginning, it’ll require a drive around towns to offer the services and list the properties for the informal landlord who currently post the “ for rent” sign on the front of their property. Eventually, the gap will be closed, and more people will post their rental properties online.
