Did the exact same thing as you. Left Ohio and moved to Tampa then Orlando. Was so expensive we moved to Houston but hated Houston. Now we’re back in Ohio planning better this time to move back to Orlando where we loved it. Hope you like Houston better than Florida. It was a no for us. To hectic, and expensive for little pay. Also since we don’t frequent bars and club I found Houston lacking in family entertainment.
@mamicitaaa3 ай бұрын
@@ajourneytoessence2166 i know exactly what you mean about Houston. When I researched moving here or Dallas most ppl said Dallas was more family oriented than HTX. I have found some things to do that aren’t just bars/clubs but I’m just a single woman. I hate clubs lol but I will attend a bar every now and then. The thing that’s annoying me about Houston currently is the power outages! I’m debating moving to another city to see if I like it better. I am so torn on my next move. I like living in Houston because of the food and things to do but I feel there is better for sure.

Hey, thank you a ton for this video. I hope you are safe down there in H town with that hurricane. I have been undecided about moving to Houston since college. I stayed in ATX and am now considering moving to Tampa instead of going to Houston. The extreme heat, hurricanes, lack of city aesthetics, no beaches, and roaches make me want to live in Tampa instead. What made you go from moving to Tampa to switching to Houston in 3 months of being there? I'd rather learn from you than do the same.
@mamicitaaa3 ай бұрын
@@MersageSW hey! First of all good luck and prayers on your decision. I lived in Tampa for a full year. I taught there and honestly the pay and cost of living annoyed me. It was expensive and I felt I didn’t make enough money to live there. I miss the beaches and that’s about it. I also felt it was not many black people there and I like a mixed cultural city. I don’t want to live somewhere predominantly one race. I’m honestly considering moving from Houston because of the outages that happen in weather I’d imagine wouldn’t cause it. Currently torn between Dallas or Chicago area. How did you like ATX?
@MersageSW3 ай бұрын
@mamicitaaa Thank you for your reply and good energy. This is very helpful! ATX is the way you are describing Tampa. It's 6% black and majority white. Also, the cost of living is just not worth it. Its a nice place to visit for sure. The outdoors spots and local parks are really nice and plenty. If you want diversity, I would look elsewhere. I'm set to move to Houston early next year. I looked at Charlotte, but it is one of the only cities seeing an upward crime spike. I thought you liked good weather - why Chicago? I know their is a lot of diversity but I heard them winters are like the opposite of a HTX summer. 🥶
@mamicitaaa3 ай бұрын
@@MersageSW i figured that’s how Austin was. I’ve heard the winters are brutal in Chicago for sure! My sister lives there and I feel that it would be for the experience. I’d like to see how it is and live close to her again.

Girl I’ve loved living here! Actually more than I liked FL. I just miss FL beaches. My advice is to research areas! I looked at the higher rated school districts to see what areas were better/safer since I’m alone too. I also read the reviews for the apartments like crazy and chose ones that were luxury and responsive when I inquired about things.

Okay for people who’s moving here plz know we are not a party city. If you want to do fun crazy things just know it’s outside of Houston but in Tx lol. Food-BJ’s restaurant & brewhouse in pearland. Best hood spot Timmy Chans in Southpark/mlk. Best bbq 5thward @ Triple Js smokehouse bbq. Best park Hermann Park. Houston zoo ect is right by the park. We have a lot of things to do but just google. Also yes things are far, so if you trying to get at a place on time, leave an hour early. Because people are moving out here the freeways are over the top pack. Be safe have fun.
