As a European, this was a lot of fun to watch, and also really interesting to see what it’s like for an American to explore a European country and to even move here. To me, visiting America is basically the coolest thing ever. Literally everything is so big but the stop lights THERE are weird. They just hang up there and at night you would almost think they were hovering and be scared of them falling down. It makes a lot more sense when they’re on the side of the road🙃 I don’t live in Ireland, but I’m going there in April, and I can already tell from this video, that it’s an awesome place so thank you for that:)) I love your taste in books btw.
@BornToBeEllie3 жыл бұрын
haha I'm so glad you liked it! yea I never even thought that stoplights would be anywhere else BUT in the middle lol, and yes Throne of Glass is a superior series. Have fun in April when you come to Ireland! It honestly is so amazing here but I can't wait to visit other places in Europe too
@linejun37433 жыл бұрын
@@BornToBeEllie Yes it issss!! I need to reread it!!:D But yeah, you won’t see a lot of stop lights in the middle here! They might be a few places such as highways but I’ve always felt weird about them dangling up there. And thank you!!:))) I’m very excited to get to go there and I definitely understand you wanting to visit other places in Europe too:D That’s one of the perks about living here. You can get to a completely different country in no time:)

First. Welcome to Dublin, I hope you have a wonderful time while you're studying in Trinity Collage. Second: I laughed with your initial reacting to being in another county, I had the same on my first trip to Italy and your reaction to the Taxi driver. Not at all surprised. My wife who is Spanish has more than a few interesting coincidences once she moved here, my father knowing a mutual friend, (be careful what you say, you never know) Yes, you do look Irish, On accents, Dublin is split into 2 areas, Northside and Southside and normally seen as having two accents, but it is broader than that, Dublin has around 9 native accents depending on where in Dublin you are, but the key ones you will encounter. Dublin Inner-City North Side Dublin South Side Dublin Then there are the accents from outside Dublin, normally called Culchie by Dubliners, but it's not complimentary in origin, it's seeing as disparaging and negative, and in retaliation Dubliners are called jackeen's The beeping sound at crossings is to aid those with "sight problems", you will also notice at crossing that the pavement will have a different surface for the same reason. Cong is where the John Wayne film was made, The Quiet Man with Maureen O'Hara, as was Ashford Castle Drinking Guinness, many ladies dislike the taste of it, but you can ask for some Blackcurrant to sweeten.
@BornToBeEllie3 жыл бұрын
Haha thank you! And yes, I’ve started to realize there are different Irish accents because I thought I was able to recognize the accent and then I’d meet people and ask where they’re from and they’d be from Ireland and I had no idea because the accents were slightly different And YES everyone was telling us about the Quiet Man when we were in Cong haha so I’ll have to watch it now!
@gmd3d6913 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome, I always find it interesting seeing reactions of people wherever they are from, visiting Ireland, good and bad. The Quiet Man is a film always shown on RTE around Easter. It's a romantic view of Ireland. I hope you make more videos with your experiences of Dublin and Ireland,

I realise this was some time ago but I'll comment anyway. I'm very touched by your initial excitement arriving in Ireland. You mention crosswalk...ie pedestrian crossings ... making beeps. That and the bubbles on the pavement , are for blind people because by now you know jaywalking is not a crime but a national pasttime.

I'm Irish and when your video loaded I clicked on it because I was thinking, why is an Irish girl talking about moving to Ireland, returning maybe?
@BornToBeEllie2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha that’s so funny! Glad my look can pass for me being Irish before I start talking and my accent gives away that I’m American

@9:50 sheep probably just outside Dublin North Kildare...you missed crossing the Shannon into Connaught . Ballinasloe is in east Galway the second largest county and the City divides it from west Galway and Connemara. The sea views at 1.28 are Galway Bay. Looking south to kinvare ...also in Galway and the Burren in Clare.

@10.41 you can see a large metal sculpture in Eyre Square Galway with a concrete wall to the left. Just behind that wall a bit to the left is where JFK addressed the people of Galway

@10:52 you are looking across the mouth of the corrib river onto the Claddagh famous in the song Galway Bay and for the Claddagh Ring. Immediately followed as you cross the bridge into claddagh looking up river to cathedral green dome

Personally I like Wowburger for some quick food, or if you want more of a real restaurant I quite like The Dropping Well. Drink wise, bars like Chaplins, Workman’s, and Doyle’s are pretty popular among the students
