Carrie Rad You give great tips, especially about when/when not to drive! LoL anyway, you should make a vid on cool events happening in LA during the summer that both tourists and residents would enjoy ( i.e. Chinatown Summer Nights, Arroyo Seco Weekend, Twilight Concerts on the Santa Monica Pier, CicLAvia, etc.)

A good tip for meeting new people in any city.. Take a class. Whether it be yoga, dance, book club, drawing.. Whatever your interest(s). It's amazing how quickly you can connect with people. It gives you something to talk/ geek out about. :-D

I'd love to live in LA, but mostly due to the weather. I like to ride my motorcycle, so you can't get any better weather for that than in Southern California, virtually no rain and pretty much always warm. Plus it's legal to lane split in there, so the traffic wouldn't be as bad either.

I love watching these videos, even though I have never been to LA! I know Ingrid lived in NY for some time, would you say that LA is similar or different from NYC? I love the energy in New York, but oftentimes I meet people who either love NY and hate LA or vice versa. Thoughts?
@sayjaibao011886 жыл бұрын
Nina R Can't really compare NYC to LA cos they are so vastly different. NYC is compact, meaning everything is packed in like sardines (hence the need to build highrises and skyscrapers everywhere). Space is such a premium in NYC. LA is HUMONGOUS (cos when ppl talk about LA it's not just the city proper but also the other 87 cities that surround it). LA is a horizontal city (it came of age after the automobile become popular). It is a hybrid city with elements of a traditional city (with skyscrapers in downtown LA), but is also surrounded by nature (beaches, canyons, valleys, mountains, deserts) They're both vibrant, diverse and trendy cities. LA has beautiful weather most of the year, whereas NYC has decent weather from late April to August. Nature to a NYer would be Central Park; Nature to an Angeleno would be The Angeles National Forest/Griffith Park/The Santa Monica Mtns (literally in LA's backyard). NYC's energy is non-stop & frenetic (which can be a little stressful/ exhausting IMO). LA's energy is just as vibrant but more relaxed/laidback. Some ppl love LA, some ppl hate LA (usually from ppl who have never even visited and base their perceptions from apocalyptic movies about the city), and some just dont understand it. For ppl that understand LA, it's a life-changing city.

I wished I could live there! But as I'm living on the other side of the world, in Belgium, it sounds a bit scary to go there on my own and not knowing anyone.
@alyssarotini15404 жыл бұрын
Do it! I moved from the east coast to la back in 2016.. I fell in love. Unfortunately I didnt do it right so only lasted a year and a half before I came crawling back east. But the year taught me so much.. It was the first time i moved away from family didnt know anyone. It pushed me so far out of my comfort zone. My recommendation do your research. Maybe take a trip there before you take the plunge. See if la is a right fit. Second la is super expensive dont be afraid of sites like craigslist when looking for places to live. I feel like if I had done that and forced myself to make friends things would've gone a lot smoother.
@Gabiche4 жыл бұрын
@@alyssarotini1540 Thank you for the great advice! I guess I should take a leap of faith and go there for a year. Just to see how it goes and even if it doesn't fit. I can always go back home of course 😊
@alyssarotini15404 жыл бұрын
@@Gabiche I wish you the best of luck.. one more piece of advise.. dont be afraid of public transportation.. it is actually ok I survived for almost eight months with out a car. It is nowhere near transit in europe or other parts of the world, but given enough time it'll get you from point a to point b.
@Gabiche4 жыл бұрын
@@alyssarotini1540 I will do some extended research before actually taking the step. But every advice is welcome and I'm going to remember what you said! :) my main concern is finding housing in a good area of LA and to make friends as fast as possible 😅
@alyssarotini15404 жыл бұрын
@@Gabiche I lived in downtown which was nice because I had access to public transit.. but it is super expensive. My recommendation is to try craigslist, I see listings for communal living all the time. At least that way you can get your feet wet. Most of them are month to month, so you can take your time finding an area you like with out being tied up in a lease. Also if you are ok with not being in la orange county is cheaper.

Julia Park I know, I was watching Kalel’s newest video and she was talking about her lip injections and she said everyone in LA gets them done and it’s not a big deal at all which I kind of already knew but I can’t imagine that! I would get so much shit if I got lip injections where I live! Obviously there are people here who get them done but I don’t know any and it’s definitely not the norm. It’s pretty looked down upon because people here consider it to be vain and superficial.
@sayjaibao011886 жыл бұрын
Julia Park The superficial, materialistic ppl are certainly there if you seek them out (same with New York, Shanghai, Paris, London or any big economically booming city). It ultimately comes down to what type of ppl you choose to surround yourself with. There are also tons of down-to-earth ppl who dont live that superficial lifestyle, especially native Angelenos.

Oh my gosh I can’t imagine what living in LA would do to my self esteem! I can’t imagine being around so many beautiful people. I live in the Midwest where people would be considered 7’s everywhere else but are 10’s here! Haha for real though I think it would seriously be hard to live in a place where everyone one better looking than me. Plus I have heard that dating there is a nightmare because guys just want to play the field because there are so many beautiful girls to choose from they are constantly looking for something newer and better. Obviously these are just stereotypes and not all stereotypes are true but most stereotypes have some truth to them!
@veronicableu6 жыл бұрын
Just think most of the people who live there are from somewhere else, and they all look normal, I promise you. Its not like only beautiful people move here. Normal looking people move here and spend their days looking normal. Now dating on the other hand I think its hard in California, its not because all the woman are beautiful, cause they are normal, its because we don't put any value on getting married and having children young. In California in general its all Free To Be You And Me.. Do what ever you want in the time that you want with who ever you want. Have fun young don't settle down and enjoy the sun. ; )

LA/Southern California is not the place for convenient and easy public transportation. It is extremely spread out and it is not a fast and easy place to get around without a car. I have lived in California my whole life and I have lived north and south. San Francisco/Bay Area is the only place that has real viable public transport, but like most states, only big cities, like Chicago and New York have real subways and trains that take you all over. California is the best state ever (totally biased) ; ) but it is the most expensive state in the United States. You have to have a hustle and a drive to live here, no matter what you want to do its not easy or cheap.

Ashley Tune Transfers from any bus and metro train is free. The fair is pretty cheap at $1.75 for a big city. Even though I own a car, sometimes I choose to be car-lite and take the Metro Expo Line train to Santa Monica Beach from Downtown LA or take the Red Line to Hollywood to catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

How the hell did I get here? I started out watching the history of the garbage pail kids. I guess it makes sense to go from a garbage pail kids video to a video about how great L.A is hahahahahaha. I was born and raised in L.A it blows, it's expensive it's ,over crowded, traffic sucks, too many hipsters, street parking is hard to come by finding people that are actual natives has become a rarity. I will say the positives L.A is huge huge huge so you can venture out and not stick to just the downtown, Hollywood, Santa Monica get out and explore the rest of L.A freeways are awesome they connect to every part of L.A no matter what freeway you take you'll sit in traffic but you'll survive and see a part.of L.A you never knew existed. The weather is the most positive thing about living here. Stay away from Hollywood and highland. Public transportation has gotten so much better and has expanded. If you find yourself in Torrance have some Japanese curry at coco's there is one in koreatown too but they always mess up your order. Last but not least we are all not in the entertainment industry. I've never met anyone in the entertainment industry must be a transplant thing. I have seen celebrities but never in Hollywood.
