Ah so exciting!! We had two weeks off before starting our jobs and we searched pretty much all day, everyday for those two weeks. By the end of the second week we had three offers accepted :) One place was available to move in the following week, another in 2 weeks time and another in a month or so. A few others we looked at weren’t available to move in for 2 or so months (so just something to keep in mind for timelines!) All the best for your move from Melbourne 💘

Congratulations on the move, the place looks great! I'm planning to move early next year from New York, so both your apartment hunting and moving videos were super helpful. Just subscribed! :) Question- are there any specific pre-requisites to renting in the city? Rental history, income requirements (NYC requires you make 40x the rent, so just trying to figure out if London has something similar too), previous landlord information, etc?

Hey, thanks so much! Exciting times ahead ✨ Good question - the real estate agents did ask us for our income before booking us in to view properties so there must have been an income requirement. I can’t recall the exact amount though… we must have been looking for a rental price that fit within the requirements 🥲 once we were accepted, we were asked to provide job references to our landlord (and he also asked for previous rental references but we owned our home in Sydney so instead we provided the mortgage details etc). We were also asked to put down a higher deposit than usual because we had no credit history in the UK. This was all very specific to our landlord’s requirements though. It may be a different story depending on the landlord ☺️ all the best for your move to london !!
