Quick tip: be careful about salads and similar uncooked foods when you're in a new country. E.g. even switching between Sweden and Spain can be drastic in either direction here - even tho it is within the same continent. Anyway great vids; really interesting. I'm also a software dev -- sick and tired.

I have a really nice Airbnb in Roma, CDMX. Eighth floor with views. Big windows. Nice kitchen. Very clean. Only 800/night. So, good Airbnbs DO exist in CDMX! I'd recommend mine, but it's always booked. Just look harder!

So what are you doing in Mexico City? you didn't answer in the video

México is having a surge of American digital nomads/gentrification. It may seem like a paradise south of the border with nice weather and cheaper prices but México City is a dangerous place and the culture shock can easily demolish any mirage the traveler had built up in his mind.

I worked with someone once who did contract work for 6 months and then traveled for 6 months. Have you considered contract work and then doing some traveling?
@FrugalBloom9 ай бұрын
That's interesting. Cool that they are able to do that despite gaps in their resume. Will keep it in mind.

You should go to San Miguel de Allende. It’s a much smaller place, more chill. Try to just talk to people in public places. Mexico City seems like a bit too much of a culture shock for some people. A town like San Miguel is set up to cater to visitors from all over Mexico and beyond

I've heard a lot about it! I honestly would go there but I don't like being in very high elevation areas including mexico city.

Definitely. I live off and on in San Luis Potosí and Monterrey. I can’t imagine people coming there without some Spanish skills. It really isn’t as much fun to be in Mexico and have no ability to speak. I’ve gradually learned Spanish over the years and am now married to a Mexican woman. It is much more fun to see Mexico from the inside, as a local. I’m sure many gringos will give it a try in Mexico City, but it isn’t really worth it. If you don’t speak Spanish, just go to Cancun. It’s a great place too

Mexico City is big and safe, the problem is going to a global city without prior information
@cleebe69058 ай бұрын
@@joaquinrendon6607 Mexico City is no longer the pressure cooker of crime that was 10 years ago, that is true. But a city is still considered dangerous if only the tourist areas are safe or walking at night is still considered risky in most of the city. And no, there is plenty of big cities that are not like México City in that regard. Of course if you compare it to other very dangerous Mexican cities like Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez or Ensenada, México City seems safe. México hosts at least 5 of the top10 worldwide cities considered most dangerous.
