Moving to our off grid Homestead in Outback Australia

We're busy with the final preparations around our off-grid homestead. The fence is finally finished but I've got a flight to catch. Clint and the dogs are moving to our new base.

lol Your bottomless barrel is a compost bin!! I'd have kept the greenhouse/tunnel to toss a shade cloth over for growing tomatoes to protect them from the excessive Summer heat. I'm in Tennessee. It's been a scorcher of a week and the tomatoes benefit greatly from the shade cloth.

Thank you for sharing. So satisfying when pruning trees to see the sun coming through. Do you use any of the wood for fires in the winter. Nice that Clint was able to share the dogs first day with you . Watching them settle in there new home with you ,we can understand the need of the fence 😅😅. The sticks are too thin and leafy for fire wood, Clint has been collecting thicker branches with the trailer to get warm. We might see some footage of him going detecting for gold soon, unfortunately I wasn't lucky during my beach detect but I won't give up yet 👍🏻

Bathtubs are great for growing spuds in. They stay in a big bed and can spread out of control. They are good water savers in drought if you plug the plugs in. because water stays in them and you don’t need to water as much.

hope your up to date with the WA enlightened socialist labor govt. Aboriginal Heritage Laws that state you have to pay a hell of a lot of money for an elder to come out and survey your property to determine of you can dig ANY holes deeper than 50cm over the entire property that is not affecting anything that they can state is of value to their dreaming heritage or if there are in fact any relics of previous mob habitation. They stopped Councils in Perth from planting trees unless they received $2,500,000. Australia on the brink of no longer being the lucky country.

Thanks for pointing it out but after the law was causing to many problems and turned out to be too expensive and time consuming it is going to be scrapped. We did all the work before the law passed last month.

@fredfunk4049 hmm...very isolated part of the world, as a place to live. Very tough people, they have to be to survive extreme heat (summers start in September/Oct and go until march). Hundreds of kilometres to a bank or green grocers. If there's any medical emergency, only the Flying Doctor service can fix it. Families have home schooling via SWradio (sometimes internet, depends on location).

Krissy Just wondering with all that area and so remote why do you need to corral the dogs???? Also the dogs and cats can get along easily with the proper introduction and be friends. Just wondering out loud???

The two dogs will never be friends with a cat. And with livestock, kangaroos and other aussie wildlife around it's best to have a fence. We don't want them to disappear in the bush, with poison baits laid out it's too dangerous (that's how my dog died a few years ago).

From personal knowledge, I would keep that cat. But it can't use to the dogs on its own. Because the cat will keep the rodent issue in check. My 2 feral cats have learned to live with my dogs. Both inside and out of the house

How many kilometers to the nearest home place. I envy you two as I’m one of those people that just doesn’t need to be around very many people. With a good woman is about all I really want or need. Is an abandoned property there able to lay claim to it? Most places here in the states can be legally claimed mostly by paying back taxes and getting a judge to sign off after a cleared title search by a certified land title company. You two are putting so much sweat into cleaning this place up you should get some kind of ownership I HOPE!
