My wife and I left Pennsylvania 6 years ago to move Seattle. We planned and made the move in a month as well. We drove across the country with just a few things and started new. We're very happy here. I hope you are too.

Yeah, cross country moving is really a big task! & yay! Congrats! Well, if you have a car, I would say to make sure you there’s good parking available around where you live. Depending on where you’re staying, parking can be hard to find! I decided to leave my car in California so I’ve been taking the bus/ walking and it’s been working out fine. Everything is in close proximity. Honestly, I haven’t been here too long so that’s all I can really say! Oh, another thing is, there are a lot of small business here which is pretty cool, definitely give them a try!

There is mfte housing which is affordable housing. For instance you can get a 1300$ apartment 1 bed room that is usually $2k. A lot of complexes have that. You just figure this out with the apartment you are applying for

Thank you for being so transparent with all your topics. I am thinking about moving to Washington... Not sure where, probably on the outskirts of Seattle. Worried about high rent though. What are some of your apartment hunting tips? :)
@sabriatiana
@sabriatiana 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Aaah, I would say to first make a budget for yourself and then create a list of things you want/ need for the apartment. (Making lists really helped me organize everything.) Like if you have a car, factor in parking fees for the apartments you are looking at or if you want to use transit make sure things are in walking distance! Also, some apartments have a rent calendar where you can see when it’s the most affordable to apply! So those helped me as well! I honestly just looked at places that would be close enough to where I’m working and also close to the grocery store and other shops. Oh, and always look at the apartment reviews first! I hope this was helpful! ❤️

I recently moved back to Sacramento, last year, but my experience in Seattle was really impactful! It was the first city that I lived on my own in and I didn’t know anyone at all. I can truly say I met some incredible people! I met the most interesting people there. I know a lot of people have commented with their negative experiences from living in Seattle, but truthfully, every experience is unique to you and what you make of it! Every experience has highs and lows. So just go into your move with an open mind!

What's the nightlife like there? Is King's County very scenic? How are the people there? Is there a lot of winter blues there?
@sabriatiana
@sabriatiana 2 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t really go out at night but the night life is pretty active! & yes, King County is beautiful, I don’t have a car though so I find I don’t get out and explore as much as I want to. As far as winter blues, I thought I would feel them more but honestly, I’ve gotten used to it pretty quickly. & it seems like the people here are fine with the weather so that helps me adjust a little bit too. I like the random days when the sun comes out, it’s a pleasant juxtaposition. :)

I was born & raised in Seattle my whole life (Central District/Yesler Terrace/Rainier Beach) There definitely weird people, Seattle is weird and that's why I love it. Def not for normies lmao. If you want normie go to Bellevue or Redmond or some shit. If you have a business here in Seattle but are saying the people who are your potential customers etc are lame, boring and weird maybe you should run for the hills. Seattle isn't for the normies. Gentrification is a huge part in what makes it so expensive here ;) Don't be a gentrifier and don't support gentrifying businesses.

I can't seem to find a city or state that I really want to live in. I prefer city living and coast lines, but I keep finding out that every city that is appealing are ridiculously expensive or the ones that are cheap are not worth moving to. My wife and I currently live in Yonkers, which is smaller urban/suburban area within sight of NYC, and mannnnn it's expensive. I love the East coast and NY, but being millennials (early 30s) that are still somewhat fresh in our careers, I expenditures relative to the amount of time we work is rough. I'm hoping Seattle will be a good place since it hits a lot of check marks in our preferences.

Is it naturally beautiful? From what I see, there's a lot of natural beauty such as mountains and large bodies of water. How's the architectural beauty? Does it look like the rest of the country where it's mostly strip malls? A Are there a lot of amenities in the city or suburbs?

I haven’t explored as much as I’d like. When I moved here, which was in the Summer, it was very vibrant and I enjoyed going on walks, taking in the scenery, and finding the cute and unique shops that Seattle has to offer. Every single place in the world has shortcomings but it’s always exciting being somewhere new. Yes, it is true that winters are pretty dreary but like I said before, it’s really pleasant when the sun comes out. I like that there are a lot of small business here. Yet, where I live, the streets are always very dirty. Although, I still feel safe every time I walk to and from work day or night. I will not be renewing my lease for personal reasons but I could see myself visiting here again.
