Just moved from Houston to Euless in the DFW area 1.5 months ago. So happy of this change: this area is beautiful, only 5 minutes away from gorgeous and safe places like Colleyville, Grapevine, SouthLake. A little more expensive than Houston but worth it (Crime is so bad in Houston now and quality of life went down)

I concur! This past summer (my 1st ever in Texas) gave me everything I wanted when I said I moved here for the weather! 6 weeks straight of 100+ degree days every day WITH NO RAIN! I never experienced that before in my life, but I refused to complain because it beat the 15" + inches of snow and negative temps that the Northeast offered me for my whole life! It's January 11th 2023 and it's 82 degrees today in the DFW ...🥰💅💁‍♀

You are absolutely right I moved here in 2010 and prices now 2023 are just way too high it's ridiculous, people remember Texas does not pay what NY and Cali jobs pay so if you relocate here bring your jobs with you Texas needs to give a cost of living raise if they want to sale and rent homes for these extremely high prices .I have enjoyed 13 years in Dallas but I am moving this year .My grown children will remain here in Dallas praying that they will be able to thrive and afford these prices to live, my daughter pays 1200 for 1 bedroom apt only 600 sqft , my other daughter pays 1985.00 for a small 3 bedroom apt. Mortgages are threw the roof and the high property taxes !!

Moved to texas from Southern California may 2020. We came to texas for 2 weeks, march 2020, and went to all the major cities. We really liked the Houston/Dallas suburbs, but Houston/Dallas were just to large. We narrowed it down to San Antonio/Austin. We ultimately ended up in a northern suburb of Austin. Best decision we ever made! Our quality of life has improved and like mentioned in the video, it’s central located for weekend driving trips and short and cheap flights to anywhere in the country. We used to drive to Vegas in 4 hours. We now fly to Vegas in 2 1/2 hrs. We got round trip flights for $48 in February. We got round trip flights to Miami for $89 in April. We got round trip flights to LA for $102 in august. Southern California is awesome, but for our 130k yearly income it’s not so great. We really have a comfortable financial living situation in Texas.

Google flights, austin is the sweet spot for flights. We got nonstop flights to Honolulu for $189, April of last year on Hawaiian air. All the money we are saving each month we have really started to travel more. We save $2800/month by just moving. State income tax, rent, gas/commuting, utilities etc… We still love California, we aren’t those type of people to be negative about a previous situation to justify a new situation. We just realized that both places are special to us. Born and raised in California, but now a living Texan.

San Diego is amazing! My wife and I both worked in San Diego. My wife worked in mission valley and I worked at north island naval base as a contractor. We would have loved to live in San Diego, but we couldn’t afford it, we lived in Temecula and commuted 60/70 miles each way. Yes, M-F we dropped our kids off at daycare at 6am every morning, then wouldn’t pick them up until 6pm every night. We did this for 4 years, until Covid made us remote March 2020. That’s when we realized we would never go back to that lifestyle again and we also realized we weren’t living the California dream being 60 miles from San Diego, 90 miles from LA, 35 miles from the beach and 60 miles from Orange County. We are now 15 miles from anywhere in Austin and have the same lifestyle as we had in California for a fraction of the cost and get to travel which excites us and our children. Thank you for your great content

Moving next month to The Woodlands from suburban Boston. We have seen double digit rent increases in Boston for at least five years in a row. Average rent for a 2B/2B apartment with central A/C 30 miles out of Boston is now in the $3,000- $3,500 per month. Less than 10 miles from the city will start at $4,000. You will not find an updated 1,500 square foot single family home in move in condition in a desirable neighborhood for less than $800k to $1 million.

Here's an issue about CA that is often over looked.......especially by those that don't live there. The cost of that entertainment they speak so highly of. The mountains, the seaside........costs tons of money to visit and "play" in. Every foot of beach costs money to walk on, every hillside costs money to slide your sled down. There are no free ski areas. No free swimming areas. State beaches cost money, state parks cost money. Finding free hiking is difficult. And gas to get to and from all these places is horribly high. Want to visit Monterey? get prepared for $500/night hotel rooms. Visit Napa? Easy $500+ a night hotels and the tasting is no longer free. Wanna eat out for dinner in Monterey? Better set aside couple hundred dollars. Wine train, skunk train or Snow train........nearly $1000 to ride. The point is that it costs money and a lot of money to "play" in California. All that advertising of people and families having fun in "visit California" come with a very high price tag.

Hey, Good morning. Am I right to say that you pay 8.25% state tax and the reason why you pay a higher rate is because there is no income tax? Please correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks. Texas looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the upload. Oh, I also forgot to ask if you have to pay capital gain taxes too? Taxes make me feel physically sick 🤮, yet bums don’t pay taxes. You guys healthcare too can be rather alarming. I absolutely love USA, I believe it would be far beneficial if you guys had a NHS system with strict rules for people that can use it. Money each month would come out of your account and go to the police, fire serves and NHS. That would be under or around $300.00 USD per month depending on your tax bracket. I would prefer to pay $300 USD per month then paying for health care and pay some more money if I’m sick. Wishing Trump the very best for 2024. I absolutely love republicans and hate with passion socialist. Can anyone name one one socialist government that economy works? I’m dead serious, You you prefer to live in West Germany in 1960 or East Germany in 1970? Lol 😂 enough said.

My wife and I moved to Texas about 3 years ago to escape political persecution in California and the out-of-control taxes and government interference. Since moving here I discovered some major cons. 1. The house prices are way higher than they were just 5 years ago and no longer what I would consider "affordable" in the more developed areas. 2. Texas is not nearly as conservative as they think they are. Big cities in Texas are completely woke. 3. It is not the heat that gets you it is the hail and tornados. I'm told my roof is likely to be ruined within the first 5 years of being here. Yet the heat is horrendous. You really can hike or spend much time outside in August and it never cools off at night (until fall) 4. People here can't drive to save their souls. Terrible on both Highway and surface streets. Totally distracted, cut-off masters, and yet they will space out by 50 feet in a turn lane so only 2 people make it through a green or yellow light (don't get me started about the stupid flashing yellow arrows). The civil engineering is moronic. This applies to street, highway, and home engineering. 5. Your foundation is super likely to need repair. 6. Property taxes and all the PID and other taxes to support all the building is more than my mortgage. It is not at all more affordable here. 7. Toll costs will kill you. It adds up every month and nobody talks about how often it is required. 8. Compared to CA the Mexican (or Tex Mex) sucks. It is like the Chef Boyardee of Mexican food. Positives - the people are much more friendly than in CA and many other states in the west. It can be very pretty in spring and fall.

The cost of living is through the roof, this in part and no thanks from the exodus of Californians and other states from the union. Add to this the low wages per hour that the state pays. Keep this up for another decade and Texas will turn into California.
