Can you advise on Flood and Fire Insurance for coastal homes, even river/creek areas. Thank you in advance for your time.

"Cat", here! I would say the northern defining point of the warmer south coast area is Port Orford.

Taxes! What is Oregons payroll tax rate? What area has the lowest property tax rate? Do all towns have a sales tax? Does Oregon tax investments and retirement? A great area but the amount of taxes one pays plays a large roll on where they relocate, the size of the house they buy and if they can actually retire comfortably. Thanks in advance for the response.

9.9 is the highest rate for income. Curry county has the lowest average property tax rate. There is no sales tax. Long-term capital gains are taxed the same as income. Oregon doesn't tax SS but does tax retirement at the same rate as income. Of course income rate will be dependent on status and dependents. You'll want to consult a cpa for specifics. Here is a calculator you can use as well: www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/individuals/pages/calculator.aspx

do you handle rentals ?
@LivingOnTheOregonCoast2 жыл бұрын
In the state of Oregon, realtors don't broker rentals. Landlords or only going to speak to applicants. We can answer questions though...

What's your quick take on the Florence area? We went through there about a month ago, and was curious. Existing home inventory, ability to build, demographics in general? Have enjoyed your vids, thx!
@LivingOnTheOregonCoast2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray! Florence has a pretty laid-back feel. The "Old Town" downtown area is great; tons of good restaurants and shops and set on the mouth of the Siuslaw River. Median age is high, and it tends to be one of the more prominent retirement communities on the coast. It's also one of the larger towns at about 10K people. Like many towns on the Oregon Coast, inventory is low, but, it's not impossible to find a great home. Also like many place, building can be 12-18 months (hopefully this won't be the case for long). Hope that helps! Give us a call or schedule a time to chat with us if you have any more questions!

I’d rather have tourists than tent cities and people stealing from me.

are people friendly in southern oregon? how social are they if the cities are small and not much to do? are they accepting of outsiders or is there a gap between locals and tourists or immagrants
@LivingOnTheOregonCoast2 жыл бұрын
Yes, people are friendly on the southern Oregon coast. Many of them were once outsiders themselves who come to retire on the coast. Although Brookings to Bandon, don’t get as much traffic as the northern Oregon coast, they still get a lot of tourists from all over the world. When you’re parked at a destination spot, you’ll see a lot of plates from all over the country. And us Oregonians appreciate people coming and enjoying our state and patronizing our businesses.
