Awesome video, Got me Hyped! Question, what gaff is that?? And what spinning rod setup are you using for popping?? Appreciate it!
@Shhnee2 жыл бұрын
I would check out morita custom gaffs for some nice bamboo gaffs, we use those and you can completely customize them, they’re pretty expensive but well worth it. For a spinning setup, I fish out of California and throw a popper quite often and use a shimano saragossa 10,000 size. You can go bigger depending on what you fish but I use 50lb test and fish typically 15lbs of drag. We use phenix axis spinning rods, rated 20-40 for the rod, it’s got a great action but still has a good backbone to fight a bigger fish. If you want a conventional casting setup for a popper, id recommend a shimano torium or Trinidad 20 (Trinidad is the higher quality version of the torium) and a rod like a Calstar 90J-mag or a Seeker 540. Those are my favorite two setups, but of them I prefer the seeker. If you have any more questions let me know, I can give some more recommendations on gear that we use here. I know the east coast is different but I cast small poppers to big ones, stickbaits, surface irons (which I’d recommend trying for foaming tuna) and other things like that for pelagics over here.

@@Shhnee Thank you I appreciate your help!
@Shhnee2 жыл бұрын
@@franciscallahan4213 no problem. Let me know if you need any more information Also for line, I like to use power pro maxcuatro when I cast because it is thin, it’s expensive but well worth it. For hollow core, I find the thinnest diameter for the big lines, just don’t use seaguar thread lock because it is hard to splice.
