Nice video. I'm thinking about getting one for Monopod use. As for the smaller, metal knobs, I was thinking that it would be simple to purchase some of those small rolls of Camo gauze fabric. It's naturally clingy. Wrap 4 or 5 turns around those knobs will add a bit of size , give a better feels and keep the knob warm to the touch during cold weather times.

Nice review! I am receiving mine soon. Got a great deal from Adorama. I will be using it with the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary. Never used a gimbal before and this vertical look even weird. Hope it works well for me. I will be using on a monopod.

Very reasonably price and light indeed. Unsure if you are keeping it for a long time but if you do perhaps a follow up after x number of months would be nice to let us know how it has weathered.

@@RyanMenseWildlife Which fluid head would you recommend to a beginner? I've heard a lot about the Manfrotto 502 head.

I think I have that one too. I bought it used for half price of new which would be a good deal for a beginner. It’s not without issue but I think it’s probably as good as one can hope for in that price range. Off the top of my head I know when the tension of the tilt is tight, it has a gap of loose movement when you’re changing directions so it’s a sudden drop or jump for a few degrees. Just things you have to learn about it and work around, which is a similar story for most gear though. My Sony Alpha + 200-600mm setup is also over the weight capacity for the counterbalance so it requires assisting that with tighter tilt tension and locking down more often.

Just got this! Works great with Sony 200-600mm. However, it does not lock 100%, making it difficult to walk around with camera mounted on the gimbal.

Dang, mine doesn't seem to have that problem. I throw it over my shoulder to walk around and don't recall it ever having any give to it.

What are you most favourite cameras and lenses for animal photography that get great detailed photos and videos?

I use the Sony 200-600mm lens and that's my favorite. As for cameras I like the Sony a9 the most probably, but I haven't used the newer stuff from Canon or Nikon.

The Gitzo does have some cool tricks. I'm surprised the Wimberley didn't make your top list on burliness alone.
