Very nice young man!!!!! Thats a SUPER nice tractor and they sure dont make em' like that anymore. I have used my 1953 Super A with the L59 Woods belly mower for years to mow off my 6 acre pasture. It would make those pretty stripes across the field and looked better than my commercial riding mower!!! However the 1 weakness the A has is its a cultivating tractor and the 1st gear on it is really fast with the throttle open. So if you cut really tall grass and need that throttle opened up your speed will be to fast and bog you down. Of course a good bush hog rather than a belly mower can fix that problem. Anyway I hope you enjoy and take care of that tractor for many many years!!! They have lasted this long for a reason. Best wishes Johnny Kentucky USA

Its good to see the younger generation interested in old iron. I assume your dad or someone older than you is involved? Good for both of you. I grew up mowing on my dads 1950 Farmall Cub with a 48” belly mower starting when i was around ten in 1981. Later he bought a Super A and we put a woods L59 on it. He sold it but we bought another Super A with an L59 that i still have and use to mow my 4.5 acres. We also collected a Super C five or six cubs and two cub lo boys (not the 154/184). A tip for you in mowing: mow counter clockwise. You will be able to see where you have mowed easier. You will be putting the offset “culti-vision” to use.

I’ve got a the same tractor with the same belly mower and I’ve mowed thicker grass literally TALLER than the tractor. I’m dead serious. And it ate it like a champ.

Just subscribed. We have a super A with a larger 123 engine from a 200. equipped it with a 59 inch woods mower. I had a devil of a time getting the belt to stay on and the spindles turn in the correct direction. The belt was too short. We have just uploaded a video of our A mowing on our channel.

Jack Thompson if you hold the clutch down for 5-10 seconds before putting it into gear it usually won’t grind
