I started a lawn care business part-time in 2014, while working full-time in the autobody industry. In 2015, I quit my job (with a pregnant fiancee) and risked everything to go full-time.
By 2019, Scooter's Lawn Care, Inc. was an award-winning, seven-figure company.
In 2021, I once again started from the ground up with a second location expansion in Cape Coral, Florida. By month three, my team was hitting $50,000/mo in revenue - climbing up on $100,000/mo before the first year's end. In under two years, my second location was selling over $200,000 in services each month.

Side note, enhancements count as a recurring service. You can lump any landscaping job for a regular client into a recurring category. Also you don’t have to be one or the other, there are people who want just one contact for their landscaping contractor. We do full service landscaping maintenance with some enhancement work. Eliminating waste in either business is a very important thing more people need to focus on.

New Subscriber. Found your channel because I was working on typing out an estimate system to pass off to our answering service. We really focus on maintenance and enhancements because we do seem to be more profitable and efficient, it's scalable, recurring work. We don't do any hardscaping or design installs. We run 1-man crews, small lawns, $50 minimums, 1 guy can do 15-17 or so a day in 7-8 hours without really breaking too much of a sweat.

How long do your guys stay with you? I have seen nothing but high turnover with doing the solo mowing crew but the two man team be much better and more consistent on times.

What do you average per hour landscaping vs mowing? I'm still and going to 100hr for new customers. Getting 75hr for old grandfathered accounts up to 110 hr with good route density but still kinda lower pricing

We run around $65 for mowing and $85 for landscaping. When your running solo you will be able to crank those numbers through the roof. As you start having employees it can be harder to hit super high numbers. But it’s all really in what does it cost you to run your business.
