@@PeterAndersons lol....you don't know what ur talking about. A 1989 model Ariens GT is the best built tractor ever made. It shares its platform with Gravely. It's got a Kohler Magnum twin cylinder 18 with over 40 lb. ft. of torque and weighs in at almost 2000 pounds. Ive snaked 22" diameter 10 foot long logs out of the woods with it and can mow grass down to a 1/2 inch tall at 12 mph with no scalping and no clumping. Its even got power steering and a 950 pound (cat 1) 3 point hydraulic lift capacity. It sold for $4200 brand new in 1989. I've got all the original paperwork to prove it. Anybody who knows anything about real garden tractors can school you on the golden years of build quality from 1965 to 1995 on Ariens, Deeres (I own a LT190 with a Johnny bucket), Cub Cadets ( I own a 1969 127 model with electric lift and a sleeve hitch ), Simplicity, Wheel Horse, Bolens, CASE, etc. But, thanks for your input, Junior. 😂🤣 OBTW....I also own 2 Statesman mud mowers I built myself that will each run over 36 mph that are riding on 27" Executioners with locked Peerless's and a built 1970 CASE pulling tractor. Installing the cutting deck backwards means the cut grass has a much longer distance to travel before it gets ejected out of the deck. You would bog-down the motor of a normal 23hp machine with that design. You have compensated for that increased work load, with the higher hp motor cycle engine, so you may not encounter that issue. If on the otherhand it cuts like crap in long thick grass you'll know why now.

You are an amazing fabricator!!! If you launch a stone with that beast, it could kill someone!!!!!
@jamescopeland88135 жыл бұрын
The reason the deck faces the other way, is to reduce cycling of the clippings. With it turned around backwards, all the clippings have to cycle all the way around each chamber... as opposed to forward, only part of the clippings continue around the chambers before being discharged. As long at the deck is properly leveled and has the proper brake angle, you won't notice much difference, unless you're trying to cut tall grass, or mowing fast enough for the clippings to clog up the deck. Great build mate!

Deck does cut better in forward. If you ever notice. Forward leaves nothing behind nice smooth pass. Backwards at a long distance and it leaves a small line behind of the cut grass. So if this was foward. It would performer much better. The discharge doesn't work well in reverse due to how the blades turn in relation to the deck.
@Mezzmoengineering6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, the blade direction compared to the deck is still original, the only difference is the deck itself is turned 180 degrees. I don't think it would work at all if the blades were running backwards too.....

Congratulations this is one of the best builds I ever seen next level . May I ask what is your regular job? How long this project took from start to finish?

Hi Miguel, The project took me approx 2 years from start to finish. That was working in my spare time. My regular job is as a Mechanical Engineer. I started my career as a Fitter and Turner and then studied engineering. I've always built things and my spray painting skills are mainly from a few tips from others and then self taught. Each project I've done over the years I aim to take to the next level. My Celica was another build that took a very long time, check it out on a recent upload. More projects to come....Glad you like this mower
