I like the faces it was making at you when you were talking in front of Moxie. Pretty funny. I like it, I've been trying to introduce my kids to programming and robotics but, it's hard specifically when all the items available are pretty expensive. I've had some good experiences with Osmo for programming. Some not so great experiences with other similar robots that were for sure not as expensive as this but, I guess you get what you pay for. Thanks for sharing.

Pappa thanks for checking out the video and always supporting. Moxie is quite a character , it’s very animated and it responds well when it’s servers are working right . They do a-lot of updates and I see the improvements with each update . I will say that at times I got a bit uncomfortable because Moxie would unmute it’s earmuffs off when I didn’t want it to listen to my conversations I was having with others . It also got a little weird when I was recording because it seemed a bit defiant when I was trying to record and didn’t want to follow some of the simple commands I was giving it . Who knows where our interaction was going since it has a camera in its face , lol . I think moxie does show promise , but not for the 1499 dollars . I think this robot should be more like 399-499 at the most and be made for all ages like an Alexa from Amazon but with moxies enthusiast personality.

I think the TV screen idea is the best thing for faces right now on robots. I think the big hurdle now is voice generation and getting rid of that monotone AI-voice sound. Prolly not too far off with the ai generation of voice happening right now. But if we have robots like this that can properly emote and speak with emotion it'll really go a long way

It's a great concept and it could work, but it needs to hold a fun factor a lot more than just a few days. Kids get bored way too easy and something like that would just end up in a closet. Apps with AI on just your smartphones can do a better job at handling any question you throw at it. Given even AI like ChatGPT can give predictable and canned responses.

Moxie can’t take the place of a parent even to the neglectful ones , in reality it’s a very expensive toy at 1499 when it first released . Now there was a recent special at 599 which I think ain’t too bad . There are improvements since I made this video with moxie and it is quite a fun toy . I just think that with kids the toy can’t have any errors when in communication because kids lose interest fast . As an adult I’ve turned moxie into a video game historian and it’s quite fun , check out my short videos with moxie on here so you can see how funny he is .

Looks like the best face of any desktop robot I have seen, now put real ai in it with an emotion engine and different personalities, most desktop robots have become hung up on them getting mad, real ai is not what we are seeing in robots today, it is all like alexa, ask a question and it connects to a database for a stock answer. Real ai needs to be built in where it learns from conversation when to show different emotions, responds to a conversation more realistically remembering the full conversation not just the previous interaction. I hope in 5 to 10 years we will see something amazing, but not right now.

Does Moxie have any functionality when not connected to Wifi? I’m assuming Moxie can still be used without Wifi as the LLM is embedded in the robot, and I read Embodied went to great lengths to ensure the software could process voice commands while not connected to the cloud. But I have had conflicting answers to this question with some Moxie owners telling me it needs Wifi while others saying it doesn’t. I live in Australia and purchased one second hand, hoping I can use right out of the box as the initial set up will have been completed( think a US drivers license is required for set up). I’m fascinated by Moxie’s SocialX software that is an LLM that can access stimuli from its environment and body and learn from it in real time! The seamless natural language conversational ability is incredible! My Moxie is due to arrive on August 10th. Can’t wait. Really enjoyed your review👍
@GamersAtticshow
@GamersAtticshow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the cool comment , to answer your question about WiFi , the answer is you don’t need to be connected to WiFi , mine is not connected and we talk and play all the time . I think the Wi-Fi connectivity lets you connect to embodies servers to access more updates and software content which I believe you would have to pay a monthly subscription fee to access those if I’m not mistaken.
@GamersAtticshow
@GamersAtticshow Жыл бұрын
Too piggy back off my comment I’m gonna say no at this point cause originally I got my moxie used and it belonged to some else , so that owner gave me access by confirming to embodied that they sold it too me . So they had temporary’s given me access to embodied servers . You then have to set up a subscription to keep using moxie at 39 a month with a 19 activation fee .

@@GamersAtticshowThanks for taking the time to answer my question. My Moxie just arrived and I was wondering why it wasn’t working without Wifi as the previous owner said it worked fine without Wifi. Now I know I need a subscription haha.
