My number one tip for becoming fluent in French: when you hang out with French people, ask them to only speak to you in French and only talk to them in French too. Plus, ask them to always correct your mistakes. Yes, it will be tedious for a while, but that's how I became fluent in Spanish when I lived in Costa Rica for a year.

If I can give you some advice, studying a language isn't enough to speak or understand it fluently. As a french person who learned to speak and understand english I can recommend you to immerge yourself in the language. You can definetly do it from home. If you studied the language for years then you must have at least the bare minimum necessary to watch french videos, on tiktok or youtube. You should also watch french shows with your first language subtitles, etc. You'll see progress I assure you. And sorry if i made mistakes english isn't my first language..

Hello Moya, I’ve been so enjoying watching all your experiences moving from place to place - but am very curious about the move across to Paris. I’m from Cape Town, South Africa, and am due to move to Melbourne in a couple of months. It’s a big move for me since I’ve been to Aus once and am going in quite cold-turkey (with the exception of having some connections living there). It’s inevitable to have a bit of an unpredictable/rocky start to any new place of home, but do you have any advice or insight (as someone who has just moved away from home) into riding through any uncertainties, overwhelm or loneliness.
