I'm curious, how many "first VR museums in the world" does there need to be before someone is 2nd?
@RabbitConfirmed6 жыл бұрын
at least 5 millions or so.. But because after that no one wants to be 2nd they just skip it and say it's "normal" now

this is not a launch, but a promotional video by viveport, as this app has won the vda award for best arts & culture app. The museum launched in 2017 and was the first of it's kind (actually still is). More than happy to elaborate if you want!

As someone embedded in the Art x VR scene, I'd be curious to know how this can be the case. A number of other VR Museums pre-date this, mentioned in this article. hyperallergic.com/385325/new-vr-arts-platform-launches-with-abramovic-eliasson-koons-and-a-whole-lot-of-hype/

@@BenVance Hi Ben, the article references Acute (who are amazing btw!), but not a museum...They produce VR Art experiences and I highly recommend trying those too!

@@joelkremer5648 if you read the entire article it mentions two other museum efforts, including ours. You'll find more digital museums if you search the digital store fronts (aka researched). How are you the first?

I'd be ashamed to use such a glorious VR museum collection. I wouldn't mind paying some kind of a fee. Just imagine the virtual guide, employed real people with real knowledge that could answer your question. Real human will always be more engaging than prerecordings.

Is Mac support available? It is hard to take content seriously - if it is windoze only.

Doesn't the Odyssey use the exact same oLED panels? So why does this guy at 3:33 "without a DOUBT the best fidelity you can get". He either isn't informed or it's straight up a lie. And don't get me even started about what's coming from the competition already knocking on the door.... Let's face it. Nowadays VR headsets are NOT good enough to display a museum. It's a neat gimmick but not the greatest experience. Especially with the low res+super low FOV+screen door+fresnel lens garbage.

Have you tried it in VR? Curious what your feedback is and what you'd like to see better/changed...open for that in PM!

Not true. Seeing objects in virtual reality is not the same as seeing it for real. You can have a very detailed F1 race car standing in front of you in VR. Neat. But having the real car which has really won races and titles and you could also touch it is a totally different experience. Same as going into the cinema. Why dont we all just watch the movie on TV and and a good sound system.. Cinemas are an experience. Going out is part of it.

a VR experience will never replace the real experience, but VR will enable millions of people worldwide to experience art they otherwise would have never seen. it will greatly help museums spread their collections to a much larger audience.
